Proactivity and Job Search: The Mediating Role of Psychological Closeness With External Mentors
Building on contest and sponsored-mobility perspectives, we explain how proactivity enables individuals to develop external mentoring support. By becoming psychologically close with external mentors, we predict that protégés engage in greater job search as additional job opportunities become visible. Results of two studies from different data sources (MTurk and Prolific Academic) support a connection between external mentoring and job search. Mor…

Asexual Resonances
This article works on two axes: first, employing queer archiving to push at the parameters of what might "count" as asexuality, and second, addressing feminist and queer inattentiveness to asexuality through rethinking queerness from asexual perspectives. We argue that an attunement to asexual "resonances," however subjective and impossible to measure, makes possible the imagining of a queerly asexual archive, an archive that troubles current und…
Dissimilarity and learning in teams: The role of relational identification and value dissimilarity
Conflict and performance in US and Mexican learning teams: The influence of team behaviors and cultural context
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the role of two moderators of the relationships between affective conflict and cognitive conflict and team performance: the cultural context and the level of team‐oriented behaviors. Design/methodology/approach Survey questionnaires were administered to a sample of 143 Mexico‐ and US‐based learning teams. Regression analysis was used to test hypotheses. Findings In both cultural contexts, cognitive …
Team processes, team conflict, team outcomes, and gender: An examination of U.S. and Mexican learning teams
Understanding ‘appropriateness’ in multinational organizations
Assessments of the appropriateness and inappropriateness of behaviors may influence conflict, cohesion, and goal attainment in multinational organizations (MNOs). We develop a model of appropriateness that illustrates how various arrangements in MNOs (e.g., geocentric staffing) may work to influence the likelihood of (in‐) appropriateness assessments as well as the magnitude of the reactions (positive or negative) to such assessments via their in…
