• Good living within social and ecological limits: Having too much and damaging nature too much are not separate issues

    Open Access•Mauricio León•ARTICLE•Revista iberoamericana de…•2019

The objective is to delineate the arguments of a Good Living Limitarianism through the analysis and critique of the doctrine of financial limitarianism —it is not morally permissible to be rich, that is, to have more financial resources than those necessary for a fully flourishing life—. The financial limitarianism’s political equality argument is extended to include the rights of ethnic minorities, and the argument of the social justice is exten…

Robert D Martins, Rafael Domínguez et al.•ARTICLE•Latin American and Caribbean…•2017•Cited by: 13•References: 29

Our main hypothesis is that although Buen Vivir may be described as a social phenomenon in some specific social contexts (such as among Amazonian Sarayaku indigenous c…

  • Transfer payments, mothers' income and child health in ecuador

Mauricio León, Stephen D Younger•ARTICLE•The Journal of Development Studies•2007

We evaluate the impact of the Bono Solidario, a transfer payment scheme in Ecuador, on children's nutritional status. In addition to testing for pure income effects, because the programme transferred money to mothers of young children, we test whether mother's income has a stronger effect on children's heights and weights than ordinary household income. We draw two main conclusions: that the Bono Solidario transfer payment scheme has had a statis…
