  • Protest, subjekt og udsagn i to nutidige egyptiske eksperimentalfilm

    Open Access•Maj Ørskov, Jacob Lund•ARTICLE•K&K - Kultur og Klasse•2023

The films The Square (2013) by Jehane Noujaim and In the Last Days of the City (2016) by Tamer El Said both relate to the 2011 uprising in Cairo and its aftermath, albeit in very different ways. The article analyses how the films in each their way mobilise and articulate – rather than represent – political protest and a subject of this protest. Open Access•Yve-Alain Bois, Michel Feher et al.•ARTICLE•October•2016•Cited by: 8•References: 1

Yve-Alain Bois, Michel Feher, Hal Foster, and Eyal Weizman discuss "forensic architecture," the practice of treating common elements of our built environment as entry points through which to interrogate the present. Forensic Architecture is also the name of a research agency established by Weizman to undertake independent investigations in the context of armed conflicts, political struggles, and environmental transformation. Participants discuss …

  • A Questionnaire on Materialisms

    Emily Apter, E M Atkins et al.•ARTICLE•October•2016•Cited by: 7•References: 7

Recent philosophical tendencies of "Actor-Network Theory," "Object-Oriented Ontology," and "Speculative Realism" have profoundly challenged the centrality of subjectivity in the humanities, and many artists and curators, particularly in the UK, Germany, and the United States, appear deeply influenced by this shift from epistemology to ontology. October editors asked artists, historians, and philosophers invested in these projects-from Graham Harm…

  • Legislative Attack

    Open Access•Jacob Lund, Eyal Weizman•ARTICLE•Theory Culture & Society•2010•Cited by: 23•References: 1

Israel's 22-day attack on Gaza in December 2008-January 2009 exposed a paradox: the attack was not only one of the most violent and destructive of Israel's recent wars on the Palestinians and the one most strongly opposed by its critics, but also the one in which Israeli experts in international humanitarian law (IHL) - the area of the law that regulates the conduct of war - were most closely involved. The article demonstrates how these facts are…
