  • Integrated network pharmacology and multi-omics reveals GLUD1-mediated α-KG/Glu conversion in regulating amino acid metabolism

Open Access•Han Zhuang, Zhuang Han et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2026

  • Predicting the longevity of resources shared in scientific publications

Open Access•Daniel E Acuna, Jian JIAN et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2025

Research has shown that most resources shared in articles (e.g., URLs to code or data) are not kept up to date and mostly disappear from the web after some years (Zeng et al., 2019). Little is known about the factors that differentiate and predict the longevity of these resources. This article explores a range of explanatory features related to the publication venue, authors, references, and where the resource is shared. We analyze an extensive r…

  • Incorporating costs and benefits to the evaluation of uncertain research results

    Open Access•Han Zhuang, Daniel E Acuna•ARTICLE•Quantitative Science Studies•2024

Correctness is a key aspiration of the scientific process, yet recent studies suggest that many high-profile findings may be difficult to replicate or require considerable evidence for verification. Proposals to fix these issues typically ask for tighter statistical controls (e.g., stricter p-value thresholds or higher statistical power). However, these approaches often overlook the importance of contemplating research outcomes’ potential costs a…

  • Beyond Economics and Culture

Open Access•Nathalie Sawadogo, Hervé Bassinga et al.•ARTICLE•Population and Development Review•2024•References: 37

Theories of contraception and fertility are currently dominated by economic and cultural arguments. A demographic perspective can usefully expand these theories through "addition," "explication," and "reconciliation." The addition is about drawing attention to salient demographic forces that have previously been underconsidered whether these forces operate at the macro, meso, or microlevels. Explication is about adding explanatory flesh to proxim…

  • Characterization and Transcriptome Analysis of a Long-Chain n-Alkane-Degrading Strain Acinetobacter pittii SW-1

Open Access•Weina Kong, Cheng Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

    Strain sw-1, isolated from 7619-m seawater of the Mariana Trench, was identified as Acinetobacter pittii by 16S rRNA gene and whole-genome sequencing. A. pittii sw-1 was able to efficiently utilize long-chain n -alkanes (C 18 -C 36 ), but not short- and medium-chain n -alkanes (C 8 -C 16 ). The degradation rate of C 20 was 91.25%, followed by C 18 , C 22 , C 24 , C 32 , and C 36 with the degradation rates of 89.30%, 84.03%, 80.29%, 30.29%, and 13…
