  • Szarmata kori temetkezések Jászfényszaru, Hatvani-határ lelőhelyről

Open Access•Attila Marsi, Csilla Líbor et al.•ARTICLE•Communicationes Archaeologicae…•2025

  • Tiszakürt-Zsilke-tanya

Open Access•Bence Gulyás, Eszter Pásztor et al.•ARTICLE•Dissertationes Archaeologicae•2024•Cited by: 1

A cemetery section comprising 35 burials was excavated at the site of Tiszakürt-Zsilke-tanya. The burial rites suggest that the community who interred their dead here was of East European steppe origin, settled primarily east of the Tisza River. The graves were poorly furnished; the main chronological indicators are melon seed-shaped beads and two pairs of earrings with big bead pendants. Based on these, the cemetery section can be dated between …

  • Dislocated Hip in Cattle

    Open Access•Kyra Lyublyanovics•ARTICLE•Hungarian Archaeology•2023

In this paper I discuss the remains of a Roman Period (2nd–3rd century AD) cow discovered at the site of Baracs–Boldog-dűlő in Transdanubia, Hungary. The animal lived with a dislocated hip, a condition extremely rarely documented in archaeological assemblages; this is the first find of this kind in the region. The animal may have been a dairy cow kept alive for months or even years after the injury, even though it was probably unfit for physical …

  • Csípőficamos szarvasmarha egy késő római bennszülött telepről

    Open Access•Kyra Lyublyanovics•ARTICLE•Magyar Régészet•2023

A lelet bepillantást enged a sérült állatok korabeli ellát…

  • New Home, New Herds

    Kyra Lyublyanovics•BOOK•New Home, New Herds•2017

The Cumans, a people that inhabited the steppe zone in the medieval period and actively shaped the fate of the region from the Black Sea to the Carpathian Basin, have been primarily known to history as nomadic, mounted warriors. Some of them arrived in the Hungarian Kingdom in the mid-thirteenth century as a group of refugees fleeing the invading Mongol army and asked for asylum. In the course of three centuries they settled down in the kingdom, …
