Unfamiliar familiarity: A scoping review on the role of familiarity in consumer acceptance of cultivated meat
The potential introduction of cultivated meat products to the market, framed as sustainable alternative to conventional animal-source foods, underscores the need to examine psychological barriers and predisposing factors influencing consumer acceptance. Familiarity is often considered a facilitating factor, based on the premise that higher familiarity with cultivated meat is associated with greater acceptance. However, evidence remains contradict…

Talking together: How language documentation and teaching practice support oral language development in bilingual education programs
When an endangered or minority language is spoken by children and taught in schools, both oral and literacy skills are crucial for continued language maintenance. In school settings, literacy skills are often prioritised to support the transition to second language literacy, and rich oral language development is overlooked. This paper presents a transdisciplinary collaboration between a language researcher, curriculum support staff and educators …
Babi Yar

Between Scholarship and Dissidence: The Dissident Historical CollectionPamiat ́ (1975-1982)
This article examines the history of the Soviet dissident historical collectionPamiat ́through the lens of liminality. It argues that the publication sought to bridge the gap between dissident and professional scholarship, between grassroots memory collection, with its emphasis on the witness's voice, and historical research's reliability and "scientificity." AlthoughPamiat ́was inspired by earlier dissident historiographical projects and its edi…
Mad as Hell: The Crisis of the 1970s and the Rise of the Populist Right
Dominic Sandbrook effectively synthesizes scholarly literature, contemporary periodicals, and a sprinkling of archival source material to probe the era between Richard M. Nixon's resignation and Ronald Reagan's inauguration. Surveying an American landscape of rising sun belt political power, odd-even gas rationing, and calamity over court-ordered busing, he identifies populism as the unifying theme behind a disparate aggregation of contentious fo…
Detached Kitchens or Adjoining Houses? - A Response
The preceding article by J. T. Smith (pp. 16-19) raises a number of questions regarding a group of buildings published by the present authors in VA 28 as probable examples of detached kitchens. The points he raises are of such significance to our understanding of this important class of building that, rather than demanding a riposte, they deserve a more detailed response. In so doing, we not only address the points raised by Smith, but attempt to…
Detached Kitchens in Eastern Sussex A Re-assessment of the Evidence
It can be demonstrated that, after houses and barns, detached kitchens were once the most common building type present in the landscape of south-east England, yet today very few examples survive. Those which do mainly date from the period 1450-1550 and are surprisingly large and complex. They range in length from two to four bays and usually have more than one ground floor room and at least one, and often two or more upper chambers. Although all …
Ringelmann rediscovered: The original article
A current focus of research on individual versus group performance is social loafing, the decrease inindividual effort that occurs when the individual works within a cooperative group rather than alone.Theory and research on this issue have been strongly influenced by results reported in Moede (1927)and attributed to Ringelmann. Despite the importance and frequent citation of Ringelmann's study, the location of his original report has been a myste…
