  • Late Holocene paleoclimate reconstruction of northern Taiwan using a multiproxy approach in the Dream Lake sediment core

    Open Access•Abdur Rahman, Wei-Cheng Chang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2024

  • High-resolution records of anthropogenic activity and geohazards from the reservoir of Sun Moon Lake, Central Taiwan

Open Access•Huei-Fen Chen, Huei‐Fen Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Elementa Science of the…•2021

Sun Moon Lake is the first dam reservoir constructed in Taiwan with the capability of generating hydroelectricity satisfying the whole Taiwan need during the Japanese colonial period since 1934 CE. Now, the Sun Moon Lake is one of the biggest hydropower stations in Taiwan and has become an important touring area. During World War II (1944–1945 CE), the hydroelectric power plant at Sun Moon Lake was bombed by the U.S. air force, which caused sever…

  • Multi-proxy analyses of a minerotrophic fen to reconstruct prehistoric periods of human activity associated with salt mining in the Hallstatt region (Austria)

Open Access•Wolfgang Knierzinger, Daniela Festi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2021•References: 18

In this study, periods of prehistoric anthropogenic activity in the Hallstatt salt mining area (Upper Austria) are reconstructed from elemental (XRF-scanning, Q-ICP-MS) and Pb isotopic analyses (206Pb,207Pb,208Pb) of a radiocarbon-dated, 137-cm-long peat core covering the past ~7,000 years. The peat core was retrieved from a minerotrophic fen in the Hallstatt High Valley. Distinct metal enrichments attributed to low anthropogenic impact in Hallst…

  • Late Holocene periods of copper mining in the Eisenerz Alps (Austria) deduced from calcareous lake deposits

    Open Access•Wolfgang Knierzinger, Jyh-Jaan Steven Huang et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropocene•2021•Cited by: 4•References: 72

Palynological studies and archaeological discoveries suggest repeated extensive prehistoric copper mining in the Eisenerz Alps (Styria, Austria). In an attempt to reconstruct the specific temporal evolution of copper (Cu) mining activity in this area from the Bronze Age to the medieval period, this article presents records of elemental variations, trace elemental enrichments of Cu, nickel (Ni), zinc (Zn), arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), antimony (Sb)…

  • Practical guidelines and recent advances in the Itrax XRF core-scanning procedure

Open Access•Ludvig Löwemark, Menno Bloemsma et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2019

  • Late Holocene vegetation, climate, and natural disturbance records from an alpine pond in central Taiwan

    Open Access•Liang‐Chi Wang, Liang-Chi Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2019

  • High resolution record of heavy metals from estuary sediments of Nankan River (Taiwan) assessed by rigorous multivariate statistical analysis

    Open Access•An‐Sheng Lee, Jyh-Jaan Steven Huang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2019

  • What caused the cultural hiatus in the Iron-Age Kiwulan Site, northeastern Taiwan

Open Access•Jyh-Jaan Steven Huang, Jyh‐jaan Steven Huang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2019
