  • If You Liberated Us, Why Are You Still Here? Dilemmas of Global U.S. Military Basing

    Open Access•Jessica Jordan, Jens Jordan•ARTICLE•Japan focus•2024

This article assesses local tensions that plague the U.S.-centered hub-and-spokes security framework in the Western Pacific region, which finds its most concrete expression in increasingly vulnerable legacy installations. I start by considering how people living outside the fence in places like Guam and Okinawa have tended to see the U.S. military, while summarizing global trends in U.S. base expansion and contraction outside of the continental U…

  • Do Women Withhold Honest Sexual Communication When They Believe Their Partner’s Manhood is Threatened

Open Access•Jessica Jordan, Joseph A Vandello et al.•ARTICLE•Social Psychological and…•2022

We explored whether women who perceive that their partners’ manhood is precarious (i.e., easily threatened) censor their sexual communication to avoid further threatening their partners’ masculinity. We operationalized women’s perceptions of precarious manhood in a variety of ways: In Study 1, women who made more money than their partners were twice as likely as those who did not to fake orgasms. In Study 2, women’s higher perceptions of partners…

  • Ambivalent Classism

Jessica Jordan, Joanna R Lawler et al.•ARTICLE•Basic and Applied Social Psychology•2021

We present a model of ambivalent classism in which hostile (overtly negative and insulting) and benevolent (subjectively positive but condescending) attitudes about poor people co-exist and independently predict endorsement of restrictive and poverty-perpetuating welfare policies. Whereas existing classism scales predominantly measure antipathy toward poor people, we developed and validated the Ambivalent Classism Inventory (ACI), a 20-item scale…

A short questionnaire was administered via online social media platforms to volunteers between the ages of 19 and 30 and who self-identified as having taken psychotropic medication between the ages of 12 and 18 (N = 4…

    J Cobb Scott, Georg E Matt et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Bulletin•2015•Citada por: 7•Referências: 1

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is associated with regional alterations in brain structure and function that are hypothesized to contribute to symptoms and cognitive deficits associated with the disorder. We present here the first systematic meta-analysis of neurocognitive outcomes associated with PTSD to examine a broad range of cognitive domains and describe the profile of cognitive deficits, as well as modifying clinical factors and study…
