  • Spatiotemporal dynamics and climatic-anthropogenic drivers of kernel NDVI across China’s subtropical forests

Open Access•Rong Yu, Rubei Hou et al.•ARTICLE•Trees Forests and People•2026

Subtropical forests play a crucial role in global carbon cycling and climate regulation, yet their vegetation dynamics remain highly sensitive to climate variability and anthropogenic pressures. These ecosystems, characterized by diverse forest types, face complex challenges in responding to changing climatic-anthropogenic conditions. Understanding the spatiotemporal dynamics of vegetation greenness and its drivers is essential for predicting for…

  • Deepening and broadening knowledge after the Pisa scientific event

Open Access•David Baker, Abdul Basit Adeel et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

The intensification of science as a social institution—known as scientization—is a hallmark of post-industrial society, characterized by deepening research within primary fields and expanding into new ones. While computational analyses of large bibliometric datasets reveal historical trends in the growth of science, their scale misses underlying dynamics. Conversely, qualitative accounts of specific discoveries provide context but fail to capture…

  • How emotions influence mental visualization through the motivation to forget

Ziqi Shang, Jun Pang et al.•ARTICLE•Emotion•2025

This study investigated how emotional events-specifically experiences of sadness (vs. happiness)-influence individuals' mental visualization processes, with a focus on how they alter perceived color chroma in visual imagery. Drawing on emotion regulation theory, we propose that people are more motivated to forget sad experiences than happy ones, and this tendency influences how such events are mentally visualized. Specifically, individuals tend t…

  • Association of cigarette use with risk of prostate cancer among US males

Open Access•Xiangwei Yang, Hong Chen et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

This study suggests that cigarette use was associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer in US males, especially among those aged 20-59 years. Further research utilizing prospective study design and modeling family history is needed to confirm the findings

  • Like knows like

Jun Pang, Menglin Li•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2023

  • Burnout, negative emotions, and wellbeing among social workers in China after community lockdowns during the Covid-19 pandemic

Open Access•Yaxue Wu, Yue Wei et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

Objective: This study aimed to investigate burnout situation of social workers (SWs) who experienced the COVID-19 pandemic-related community lockdown 1 year before, and to assess the protective value of trait mindfulness (TM) in states of burnout. Method: We surveyed the burnout, trait mindfulness, negative emotions (NEs) and wellbeing (WB) of 182 social workers provided services to Wuhan lockdowns community by COVID-19 one year before. Burnout w…

  • Semantic and relational spaces in science of science

Open Access•Diego Kozlowski, Jennifer Dusdal et al.•ARTICLE•Scientometrics•2021

Over the last century, we observe a steady and exponential growth of scientific publications globally. The overwhelming amount of available literature makes a holistic analysis of the research within a field and between fields based on manual inspection impossible. Automatic techniques to support the process of literature review are required to find the epistemic and social patterns that are embedded in scientific publications. In computer scienc…

  • Crowdsourcing hypothesis tests

    Justin F Landy, Miaolei Jia et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Bulletin•2020•Cited by: 9•References: 14

To what extent are research results influenced by subjective decisions that scientists make as they design studies? Fifteen research teams independently designed studies to answer five original research questions related to moral judgments, negotiations, and implicit cognition. Participants from 2 separate large samples (total N > 15,000) were then randomly assigned to complete 1 version of each study. Effect sizes varied dramatically across diff…
