Supporting employers and their employees with mental hEalth conditions to remain eNgaged and producTive at wORk (Mentor): A feasibility randomised controlled trial
Employees with mental health conditions often struggle to remain in employment. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these employees faced additional stressors, including worsening mental health and work productivity. In 2020, as part of a larger programme of work called the Mental Health and Productivity Pilot (MHPP), we developed a new early intervention (MENTOR) that jointly involved employees, managers, and a new professional (Mental Health Employme…

William Roth's book presents the case that the United States of America's social policy agenda and provision now serves the interests of American and global corporations instead of the ‘general will’. As such, it endeavours to provide a critique of these interests and their espousal of the merits and sup…
From Community Government to Communitarian Partnership? Approaches to Devolution in Birmingham
The article provides an analysis of recent attempts by a major local authority (Birmingham City Council) to devolve decision making and localise service provision. In recent years the council has developed a series of initiatives to promote devolution of decision making and localisation of service provision to sub-city levels. Utilising a model presented by Sullivan, we argue that the council has been moving from an approach initially informed by…
