    The three Australian-based authors have completed doctorates on African liberation movements.     After 40 years of relatively good health, I began to show symptoms of what was later diagnosed as ulcerative colitis. These symptoms were distressing as they were related to loose stools and mucous, lack of continence and urgency to empty the bowels. It was 3 months before I was referred for diagnosis.
