Bilingual advantage in vocabulary development: A longitudinal look at turkish-german preschoolers
Although extensive research has been conducted on bilingual vocabulary acquisition, there is still no consensus on how to assess vocabulary development in bilingual or multilingual children under three, given the complexity of learning words in two languages. This study investigates the developmental trajectories of productive and receptive vocabularies in 157 preschool-aged mono- and bilingual children aged 3 to 6, specifically focusing on Turki…
Assessing vocabulary of bilingual German-Turkish preschool children
The vocabulary of bilingual children is determined by various linguistic factors that develop depending on the language input and individual factors of these children. To understand vocabulary development and to be able to support these children accordingly, the assessment instruments essentially need to be adapted to this individual process. The current study examined factors influencing productive vocabulary performance by means of explanatory …
The Recovery and Resilience Facility Under Next Generation EU: A Breakthrough in Economic Policy Coordination and Policy Programming
Next Generation EU, specifically its Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), has been a groundbreaking new experiment for the EU. From the speed of the reaction at the EU level with an agreement between leaders a few weeks after the COVID-19 crisis erupted, the size of the instrument (being the largest EU fund ever created), to the RRF's design features (including the performance nature of the instrument, its leverage on reforms, and its method o…
A tale of two rivers - Baaka and Martuwarra, Australia: Shared voices and art towards water justice
Two of Australia's iconic river systems, Baaka in New South Wales (NSW) and Martuwarra in Western Australia (WA), are described in a narrative that connects Indigenous custodianship, bio-physical features and art, and contrasts settler law with First Law to provide multiple ways of seeing the two river systems. Our narrative is a shared response to: (1) upstream water extractions that have imposed large costs on Baaka and its peoples; and (2) thr…

Speaking Walls: Graffiti from the Ludwigsburg Residential Palace
Ludwigsburg Palace, built in 1704-1733 by Duke Eberhard Ludwig of Württemberg, is one of the great baroque residences of Germany. While a lot of palaces were destroyed during World War II, Ludwigsburg was hardly damaged; therefore, its original surfaces are still to be seen. In the eighteenth century, craftsmen used the walls in the shell to leave graffiti, they made jokes about other people, but they also used the walls instead of paper for draw…

Evidence-based practice and knowledge utilisation – a study of attitudes and practices among social workers in Germany
This study aimed to add to the limited empirical knowledge base on evidence-based practice (EBP) and social work in Germany. Using a regional sample of 158 social workers that were recruited through stratified sampling procedures, the study examined knowledge utilisation as well as attitudes toward the use of research-based practice methods, administering a normed and internationally recognised instrument, the Evidence-Based Practice Attitude Sca…

Freiheit, Revolution, Verfassung.
Introduction: Approaches in the History of Political Thought
The article introduces a discussion on approaches to the history of political thought based on a panel at the ECPR General Conference in Potsdam, 2009. After reconstructing the three classic approaches, the Cambridge School, the ‘Begriffsgeschichte’, and Foucault's Genealogy as well as more recent developments in the field, the authors outline a scheme for further methodological and comparative research. They also emphasise the importance of hist…
