Hemp as a Sustainable Solution for Climate Crisis Action and the Opportunities and Implications for Indigenous Communities
Indigenous youth are disproportionately impacted by the climate crisis. Researchers at the Waakebiness Institute for Indigenous Health engaged with approximately 200 Indigenous youth in Tkaronto, Ontario, Turtle Island through talking circles and surveys about the impacts of the climate crisis on youth mental health and exploring possible solutions; connection to land, sustainability, and taking further action were amongst some of major themes th…

Film ethnography and critical consciousness
Film ethnography is established within social development academia and praxis, but there is limited impact-evidence of its ability to positively transform participant communities through studies based on credible theoretical underpinnings. This article suggests that Paulo Freire’s ‘critical consciousness’ theory, involving self-reflection and transformation, has relevance for film ethnography because ethnographic film can present life situations …
Injury characteristics in Norwegian male professional football
The Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic forced the Norwegian male premier league football season to reschedule, reducing the fixture calendar substantially. Previous research has shown that a congested match schedule can affect injury rates in professional football. Therefore, we aimed to investigate whether the Norwegian premier league teams suffered more injuries in the more match congested 2020 season than in the regular 2019-season. We…
New alcohol-related genes suggest shared genetic mechanisms with neuropsychiatric disorders
Excessive alcohol consumption is one of the main causes of death and disability worldwide. Alcohol consumption is a heritable complex trait. We conducted a meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of gram/day (g/d) alcohol consumption in UK-Biobank, AlcGen and CHARGE+ consortia accumulating 480,842 people of European descent to decipher the genetic architecture of alcohol intake. We identified 46 novel, common loci, and investigate…
Giving Voice to Invisible Women
This study focused on the Feminist International Radio Endeavour (FIRE), which began as a grassroots' women community radio in 1991. Afrocentricity, standpoint theory, and womanism were used with rhetorical criticism to examine FIRE's mission statement, the rhetorical artifact, to determine FIRE's role in empowering disenfranchised women in the developing countries. In addition, this study examined how FIRE can be modeled to set up women communit…

The effect of a national campaign on attitudes toward Aids
Following a national campaign in Australia which had shown no change in level of knowledge about AIDS (using random samples of the population over 16 years, before and 5 months after the campaign), we assessed the change of attitudes towards, and beliefs about AIDS in the same samples. Results indicated that there were changes in beliefs about how much is known about the transmission of HIV, and that people were less concerned about casual transm…
Ecology of Riingsdalen
An expedition to the mountainous Jotunheimen region of Norway examined the Ecology of Riingsdalen—an isolated high altitude valley situated below a hanging glacier. The nature of the flora, fauna and effects of environmental variables are discussed
