  • Understanding How Asexual Individuals Navigate Identity Disclosure and Concealment

Emily A Devlin, Charlie Giraud et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Sex Research•2025•Referencias: 9

Asexual individuals may navigate unique identity management challenges, given societal misunderstanding and invisibility of asexuality. This study investigated identity disclosure and concealment among asexual individuals using strategic outness theory as a guiding framework. Fourteen asexual young adults aged 18 to 30 (n = 14; 6 men, 3 women, 4 nonbinary individuals, and 1 transgender man; M age = 24.50, SD = 2.88) were interviewed to explore th…

  • Worldwide trends in diabetes since 1980

    Open Access•Bin Zhou, B Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•The Lancet•2016

BACKGROUND: One of the global targets for non-communicable diseases is to halt, by 2025, the rise in the age-standardised adult prevalence of diabetes at its 2010 levels. We aimed to estimate worldwide trends in diabetes, how likely it is for countries to achieve the global target, and how changes in prevalence, together with population growth and ageing, are affecting the number of adults with diabetes. METHODS: We pooled data from population-ba…

  • Selecting core-hole localization or delocalization in CS2 by photofragmentation dynamics

    Open Access•Marek Węcowski, R Guillemin et al.•ARTICLE•Nature Communications•2015

Electronic core levels in molecules are highly localized around one atomic site. However, in single-photon ionization of symmetric molecules, the question of core-hole localization versus delocalization over two equivalent atoms has long been debated as the answer lies at the heart of quantum mechanics. Here, using a joint experimental and theoretical study of core-ionized carbon disulfide (CS2), we demonstrate that it is possible to experimental…

  • Rendering justice in witch trials

    M Simon•ARTICLE•French History•2011

The borderland of the val de Lièpvre, with lands in Alsace and in the Duchy of Lorraine, and divided by religion and language, offers a rich collection of sources for the history of witchcraft persecution. The territory sharply reveals what was undoubtedly characteristic of witchcraft trials more widely. The crime of witchcraft was considered abominable before the Christian community and God, and its prosecution justified abandoning many of the s…

  • Risk factors and prevalence of HIV infection in people seeking health care in an STI clinic in Brazil

    Angélica Espinosa Miranda, S O Nasser et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2007

Comprehensive care for people seeking assistance in sexually transmitted infections (STI) clinics provides access to a group of patients in need of HIV prevention interventions and represents appropriate locations for the implementation of these activities. The goal of this study was to determine the risk factors for HIV infection. A profile of patients seeking care in an STI clinic in Vitória, Brazil; including the motives for this, the risk fac…

  • Hydrocarbon Biogeochemical Setting of the Baffin Island Oil Spill Experimental Sites. III. Biota

    Open Access•Walter J Cretney, David R Green et al.•ARTICLE•ARCTIC•1987

A baseline for petroleum residues in the Cape Hatt region of Baffin Island in arctic Canada was obtained in anticipation of controlled oil releases of the Baffin Island Oil Spill (BIOS) Project. Tissue hydrocarbons in a variety of arctic marine species were dominated by biogenic hydrocarbons. UV/F analysis of tissues indicated an upper limit of petroleum residues in the low to sub micro g/g concentration range. PAHs were detected in samples in th…
