    The extensive use of native copper by historic Copper Inuit has been felt to be a fairly recent development, inspired in one way or another by indirect European contact.     Artifacts from more than 20 late prehistoric components in the Mackenzie valley are described and compared with those from contemporaneous assemblages from neighbouring areas.
