    Open Access•Gizem Keskin, Jessica P Lougheed et al.•ARTICLE•Social Development•2022•Cited by: 1•References: 4

Internalizing and externalizing problems are likely to co‐occur in childhood and are related to concurrent and prospective mental health outcomes. We examined the longitudinal relations among internalizing and externalizing problems during middle childhood utilizing the Random Intercept – Cross Lagged Panel Model. We investigated three research questions: (1) how overall levels of internalizing and externalizing problems are related, (2) whether …

Robert Duncan, Bob Duncan et al.•ARTICLE•boundary 2•2022•References: 1

6 July 1959 (Stinson Beach, California)As an aftermath of the Wesleyan press venture, I have found a reader, I think, in Norman Holmes Pearson.1 The letter he sent me representing the Wesleyan committee gave me a personal opening to send Letters and yesterday he wrote: “The Letters is an achievement. Quite apart from taking or rejecting any single manuscript volume, there simply isn't any doubt that you are a poet. You are in Letters and you are …

  • Aerospace Environmental Health

Open Access•Annette Sobel, Robert Duncan et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2020

The concept of implementation of environmental health protection and sustainment in aerospace environments by definition implies a One Health systems approach. One Health indicates an inherently complex, contextually interrelated system with consideration of human, animal, plant, systems engineering, and environmental health, their interrelationships, and networks. One Health implies seamless integration of subsystem co-dependencies to achieve an…

  • Predictors of early growth in academic achievement

    Open Access•Megan M Mcclelland, Claire E Cameron et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychology•2014

Children's behavioral self-regulation and executive function (EF; including attentional or cognitive flexibility, working memory, and inhibitory control) are strong predictors of academic achievement. The present study examined the psychometric properties of a measure of behavioral self-regulation called the Head-Toes-Knees-Shoulders (HTKS) by assessing construct validity, including relations to EF measures, and predictive validity to academic ac…

  • Lord D’Abernon’s “Model Farm”

Robert Duncan•ARTICLE•The Social History of Alcohol…•2010

This article considers the Carlisle Experiment undertaken by the Central Control Board (CCB) during the First World War. The Board bought out the drink trade in Carlisle and managed to implement many of its most radical ideas in the city. This scheme was a test case for many controversial temperance policies and its popularity and success was important, as the Board later sought to introduce nationwide state purchase. The experiment is unique in …

  • Time Perspective as a Potential Tool for Psychotherapeutic Intervention

Open Access•Janet Konefal, Robert Duncan et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•2006

This pilot study shows (1) similarities among adults in the patterns of organization of the past, present, and future based upon individual imagery and spatial representation of their personal perspective of their lives and (2) a relationship between perceived health and future-orientation, i.e., how far into their future a person imagines self still to be alive. The data support the concept of a personal spatial representation of past, present, …

  • War Governor of the South

    Robert Duncan•ARTICLE•Journal of American History•2006

This is the nineteenth volume in the series New Perspectives on the History of the South, edited by John David Smith. Joe A. Mobley's biography of the enigmatic Zebulon Vance (1830–1894) lives up to the series's promise of historiographical reinterpretation by reevaluating Vance's actions while Confederate governor of North Carolina (1862–1865). Often compared with Georgia's war governor, Joseph E. Brown, Vance has been consistently faulted for, …

  • Social Anxiety and Training in Neurolinguistic Programming

Open Access•Janet Konefal, Robert Duncan et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1998

The Liebowitz Social Phobia Scale measured the effect of training on social anxiety responses of 28 adults prior to and following a 21-day residential training, and at 6 mo. follow-up. Significant reductions posttraining and at follow-up were evident in the mean self-reported global scale scores on fear and avoidance behavior in social situations. The item scores, aggregated to reflect the situational domains of formal and informal speaking, bein…

  • Neurolinguistic Programming Training, Trait Anxiety, and Locus of Control

Open Access•Janet Konefal, Robert Duncan et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•1992

Training in the neurolinguistic programming techniques of shifting perceptual position, visual-kinesthetic dissociation, timelines, and change-history, all based on experiential cognitive processing of remembered events, leads to an increased awareness of behavioral contingencies and a more sensitive recognition of environmental cues which could serve to lower trait anxiety and increase the sense of internal control. This study reports on within-…

Robert Duncan, Mario Davidson et al.•ARTICLE•boundary 2•1978

After the daily calendar of Day Book and given a deliberate format in Robert Indiana's design for the cover, we might go on in the new work to read thirty as the number of days in a given month. And there is the feel of days going by in these poems even better, the feel of the calendar sheets tearing off and blowing away as in the conventional motion picture language. A wind/ blows steadily/ as we sit in an imaginary film would turn the calendar …
