The crossroads are a place where we find ourselves and each other. As Kalfou strives to generate new research and knowledge in reciprocal relation to aggrieved populations who are eyewitnesses to the effects of dominant social structures, our namesake—the term for crossroads in Haitian Creole—reminds us that important lessons are learned and decisions made at such critical junctions

This article examines the complex, literary redefinition of blackness in Piri Thomas's Down These Mean Streets. Political movements of the late 1960s represent an important moment when blacks and Latinos were able to posit a point of solidarity. Blackness as a signifier of difference was re-defined through interethnic encounters at the intersections between black and Latinx peoples. Intimate Antagonisms
I introduce the concept of “intimate antagonisms” to examine literary representations of intraracial conflict. The radical unity of Black politics exacerbates the painful injuries inflicted by intraracial abuses in the microsocial sphere. This article examines three instances of mass violence for what they tell us about the inadequacies of post-racial and colourblind discourses in the US and Europe. I apply an intersectional analysis of the manifestoes that Anders Behring Breivik, Elliot Rodger and Dylann Roof leave in the wake of their horrific acts. These manifestoes, in their appropriation of rights discourses and desire for a white racial order, expose the ambivalent commitmen…
