Women writing the Americas
This essay analyzes how multiethnic women writers of the Americas draw a map of a critical geography by delineating the interrelated brutalization of human beings and the environment at the colonial-decolonial interface. Its theoretical approach is comparative, interdisciplinary, and intersectional and embedded in Cultural/ Post-Colonial Studies and Ecocriticism with the objective to problematize the issue of identity, ethnicity, and gender in co…
Identity, Displacement and Memory
In this essay, I will focus on this issue by briefly analyzing the representation of identitarian displacement in creative writings of Black and Amerindian authors from the Americas and thereby revealing the impact of the colonial past on present–day lived experience. In the final part, I will present a theoretical approach with which to examine the aesthetics of violence in multiethnic literature of the Americas
Voicing Memory and History

Social and Magic Realism in Miguel Méndez'El Sueño de Santa María de las Piedras
The objective of this study is to emphasize and analyze the interplay of social and magical realism in Miguel Méndez' novel. By depicting Timoteo Noragua's magical journey from Mexico to the US, interspersed with the fragmented, dream-like reminiscences of five old Mexicans, who recall the past and comment on Santa Maria de las Piedras, the author molds a universe where the miraculous and the real create a mysterious, timeless fluidity, where var…
