  • Priority climate and health modelling needs

Open Access•Kristie L Ebi, Peng Bi et al.•ARTICLE•The Lancet Planetary Health•2025

Climate and health modelling is necessary for improving understanding of the current and future distribution and timing of climate-related health risks. However, underinvestment in this area has limited the understanding required to inform policies that enable multisectoral interventions to safeguard health. We synthesised insights from a survey of 65 global climate and health modelling experts and 36 participants in a hybrid meeting to identify …

  • What have I just eaten?’ A qualitative exploration of awareness and use of ultra-processed food products during pregnancy and the post-partum period in line with the COM-B behaviour model

    Open Access•Fiona Lavelle, Catherine V George et al.•ARTICLE•Appetite•2025•References: 86

Consumption of convenience/ultra-processed foods (UPFs) has been associated with a lower diet quality. However, it is unclear whether consumers are aware of what is classified as UPFs. Additionally, higher maternal diet quality is associated lower risk of adverse pregnancy and infant outcomes. Therefore, the aim was to explore awareness, perception, and usage of UPFs during pregnancy. Online focus group discussions with pregnant women and those w…

  • Development and validation of a short dietary questionnaire for assessing obesity‐related dietary behaviours in young children

Open Access•Lucinda Bell, Alexandra C Manson et al.•ARTICLE•Maternal and Child Nutrition•2024

There are few short, validated tools to assess young children's obesity-related dietary behaviours, limiting the rapid screening of dietary behaviours in research and practice-based early obesity prevention. This study aimed to develop and assess the reliability and validity of a caregiver-reported short dietary questionnaire to rapidly assess obesity-related dietary behaviours in children aged 6 months to 5 years. The Early Prevention of Obesity…

  • Macronutrient Intake in Pregnancy and Child Cognitive and Behavioural Outcomes

Open Access•Rachael Taylor, Michelle L Blumfield et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2021

Prenatal nutrient exposures can impact on brain development and disease susceptibility across the lifespan. It is well established that maternal macronutrient intake during pregnancy influences foetal and infant development. Therefore, we hypothesise that macronutrient intakes during pregnancy are correlated with cognitive development during early childhood. The current study aimed to investigate the relationship between maternal macronutrient in…

  • ActiGraph GT3X+ and Actical Wrist and Hip Worn Accelerometers for Sleep and Wake Indices in Young Children Using an Automated Algorithm

Open Access•Claire Smith, Barbara Galland et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2020

Objectives: Our count-scaled algorithm automatically scores sleep across 24 hours to process sleep timing, quantity, and quality. The aim of this study was to validate the algorithm against overnight PSG in children to determine the best site placement for sleep. Methods: 28 children (5-8 years) with no history of sleep disturbance wore two types of accelerometers (ActiGraph GT3X+ and Actical) at two sites (left hip, non-dominant wrist) for 24-h.…

  • Be Healthe for Your Heart

Open Access•Melinda J Hutchesson, Rachael Taylor et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

This pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT) aimed to determine the acceptability and preliminary efficacy of a web-based cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention intervention for women following preeclampsia. Australian women with a recent history (≤4 years post diagnosis) of preeclampsia were randomized into two study arms: (1) Be Health e for your Heart, a web-based behavioral intervention or; (2) Control, access to the National Heart Foundatio…

  • Invent Your Own Fashion Economy

    Rachael Taylor, R W Taylor•ARTICLE•Fashion Practice•2019

This paper responds to a flux of transitional movements happening in fashion, questioning its current role within industry and society. Alternatives are being sought that provide sustainable solutions and choices within the practice of fashion. A move towards post-growth cultures can help create new functions, roles and responses for designers, educators and communities - highlighting a need for development of fashion experiences outside of marke…

  • Lower calcaneal bone mineral density and broadband ultrasonic attenuation, but not speed of sound, in South Asian than white European women

    Open Access•Katherine Brooke‐wavell, KATHERINE BROOKE-WAVELL et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2008

In this study, postmenopausal South Asian women living in the UK had a high prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency and lower calcaneal BMD than white European women, consistent with previous findings. Differences were detected in calcaneal BUA but not SOS. Further research is needed to evaluate fracture risk and its detection in South Asian women
