  • The CRIISIS Coil model

Open Access•Erica Johnson, Helen Bunt et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Education•2026

International collaboration in allied health and nursing education faces a long-standing paradox: although healthcare practice is increasingly global, professional education remains largely national or local. Regulatory constraints, the historical framing of health professions as task-based rather than academic, gendered perceptions of nursing as supportive rather than leadership-oriented, and structural inequities all limit cross-border collabor…

  • My Oppressive Past- and Present-Day Vulnerability

Open Access•Darryl Rice, Shona G Smith et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Business Ethics•2025

Our research contributes to the literature centered on increasing awareness, and understanding the impact, of supervisory leadership on vulnerable employees. Whereas recent scholars have explained the bright side of leadership that is helpful and socio-culturally relevant to vulnerable employees, we complement these prior studies by explaining why a dark side of leadership is harmful and socio-culturally relevant to vulnerable employees. We draw …

  • Embracing Protestantism

Erica Johnson, Erica R Johnson•ARTICLE•Journal of the American Academy…•2016

In Embracing Protestantism, John W. Catron demonstrates how people of color participated in and contributed to the spread of Protestantism within the British Atlantic world in the eighteenth century. He argues that Protestants of African descent “became agents of cultural exchange and in the process created a new circum-Atlantic Afro-Christian culture” (4). He emphasizes the importance of the continued movement of Afro-Protestants throughout the …

It explores the conditions in which non-state provisions remain cooperative or become politicised and contrasts the relations between NGOs and the state in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and the way they became politicised in the Middle East. Central Asian chat sites can transcend geographic boundaries and repression of information to provide access to information from around the globe. Chat and forums users gain information that is domestically censored or restricted in traditional media and share it with offline domestic communities. Because youth is the dominant demographic participating in chat and forum sites, these online exchanges and communities are likely to have important lo…

This article asks why Central Asian governments, although equally repressive of their traditional media, pursue diverging policies toward the Internet. Ultimately we find Internet regulatory policy in the Central Asian states varies according to who provides financial capital for information communication technologies (ICTs). Where international aid organizations and non-governmental organizations provide capital and assistance for ICT infrastruc…
