    Robert A Hackenberg, Robert Hackenberg•ARTICLE•Human Organization•2000

  • You CAN Do Something! Forming Policy from Applied Projects, Then and Now

Robert A Hackenberg, Robert Hackenberg et al.•ARTICLE•Human Organization•1999

Over the past half century, applied anthropology has evolved as part of the global process through which human society has been transformed. Several levels of sociocultural integration have been transcended. Applied efforts at parallel interventions have shifted from the bounded and orderly little community through the teeming chaos of the developing city to the boundless and amorphous world of the postnational map and the human ethnoscape which …

  • Globalization: Touchstone Policy Concept or Sucked Orange

    Robert A Hackenberg, Robert Hackenberg•ARTICLE•Human Organization•1999

  • Extending epidemiologic transition theory: A new stage

    R G Rogers, Robert A Hackenberg et al.•ARTICLE•Biodemography and Social Biology•1987•Cited by: 3•References: 16

The epidemiologic transition theory focuses on the changing patterns of morbidity and mortality and postulates that mortality by cause will evolve from a predominance of acute and infectious diseases to a predominance of chronic and degenerative diseases. The epidemiologic transition theory comprises three stages: the age of pestilence and famine (lasting until 1875), receding pandemics (from 1875 to 1930), and degenerative and man‐made diseases …

  • Colorado River Basin Development and its Potential Impact on Tribal Life

    Robert Hackenberg•ARTICLE•Human Organization•1976•Cited by: 2

Economic development of the Colorado River Basin will be rapidly advanced by present plans for energy exploitation, mineral extraction and irrigation expansion using the gigantic reservoir behind Glen Canyon Dam (Lake Powell). It might be expected that tribal peoples within the Basin which include more than one-quarter of the Indians of the United States, would derive substantial benefits from these proposals. However, recent social trends through…

  • Process Formation in Applied Anthropology

    Robert A Hackenberg, Robert Hackenberg•ARTICLE•Human Organization•1962•Cited by: 1

Professional work in applied anthropology deals largely with the changing living conditions of the peasant peoples of the underdeveloped areas under the impact of Western civilizations. In this work, we seek to relate the formal theoretical tools of our discipline to the problems confronting us. It is our uniform consensus that existing sociocultural change theory is unequal to the task
