  • The Occurrence of the Extended Family at the Origin of the Family of Procreation

    A New Orleans sample of families are studied from a structural and developmental point of view. The significant differences between Negroes and whites in the distribution of family types in the sample is largely accounted for by the number of Negro families which begin with the birth of an illegitimate child.
