  • When Algorithmic Transparency Failed

    Open Access•Kitae Kim, Shin-Il Moon•ARTICLE•American Behavioral Scientist•2021•Cited by: 1•References: 25

Content curation in contemporary digital platforms leverages both algorithmic decision making and human judgment. As much as algorithm has become an integral part of digital configurations, there are growing concerns about the lack of accountability surrounding algorithm-driven digital services. The issue of algorithmic accountability is attributed not only to intrinsic opacity in computational processes but also to the lack of transparency in pl…

  • Fostering multidisciplinary research on interactions between chemistry, biology, and physics within the coupled cryosphere-atmosphere system

Open Access•Jennie L Thomas, Jennie Thomas et al.•ARTICLE•Elementa Science of the…•2019

The cryosphere, which comprises a large portion of Earth’s surface, is rapidly changing as a consequence of global climate change. Ice, snow, and frozen ground in the polar and alpine regions of the planet are known to directly impact atmospheric composition, which for example is observed in the large influence of ice and snow on polar boundary layer chemistry. Atmospheric inputs to the cryosphere, including aerosols, nutrients, and contaminants,…

  • Development of an Individualism-Collectivism Scale Revisited

    Open Access•Kitae Kim, Bongsoon Cho•ARTICLE•Psychological Reports•2011

A 13-item Individualism-Collectivism scale comprising source of identity, goal priority, mode of social relation, and norm acceptance is presented. A validation of this scale was conducted using a survey of 773 Korean employees. An exploratory factor analysis and a second-order confirmatory factor analysis supported the measure as having theoretical face validity and acceptable internal consistency reliability. Among the four facets, goal priorit…
