This paper derives from an attempt to examine the existence of race-conscious behavior among black enlisted men in the U.S. Army. The study considered racial solidarity as the dependent variable and then proceeded to evaluate the independent causal factors of attitudes acquired by the subjects prior to military service and attitudes acquired during military service.
