This paper analyzes a genre of videos created and distributed online mostly by young men. These videos use a variety of playful and decontextualized images to present messages about masculinities. This analysis shows that the previously liminal masculine identity of the nerd gets rehabilitated and partially incorporated into hegemonic masculinity during the period from the early 1980s through the present.
