  • Understanding urban planning interventions from the perspective of mobility biographies. An empirical study of a newly developed car-reduced neighbourhood in Darmstadt, Germany

    Open Access•Marcus Klein, Martin Lanzendorf•ARTICLE•Journal of Transport Geography•2025•References: 5

In the pursuit of sustainable urban mobility, some municipalities have developed car-free neighbourhoods that restrict the parking of private vehicles. While these settlements successfully reduce car use, this strict parking ban imposes great challenges on the residents. In contrast, car-reduced neighbourhoods limit the number of private parking spaces, without banning them entirely. So far, only a few studies have examined the modal effects of c…

  • Intelectuales y educación superior en Chile

Markus Klein, Marcus Klein•ARTICLE•Hispanic American Historical Review•2008

The essays compiled in this volume explore “the dynamic process, of advances and backward steps, of reforms and counterreforms, that has characterized Chilean higher education” since the country gained independence almost two centuries ago (p. x). They do so, crucially, through the lenses of gender, class, and ethnicity. With this approach, and this is the book’s central claim, they provide new viewpoints and fresh insights on the subject, going …

  • The Chilean Movimiento Nacional Socialista, the German-Chilean Community, and the Third Reich, 1932–1939

    Open Access•Markus Klein, Marcus Klein•ARTICLE•The Americas A Quarterly Review…•2004•Cited by: 1•References: 8

The relations between the Chilean Movimiento Nacional Socialista (MNS, or Nacismo ) and the German-Chilean community, i.e., Chilean citizens of German origin, as well as the attitude of the former towards the Third Reich are still largely unexplored topics. Despite the growing number of studies on the nacista movement since the late 1980s, which rounded off and partly corrected earlier studies, and thereby substantially increased our knowledge of…

  • Sob o signo da nova ordem

    Open Access•Marcus Klein•ARTICLE•EIAL - Estudios Interdisciplinarios…•2003

Beired’s study, originally submitted as his doctoral dissertation at the University of São Paulo, is a good example of the increasing interest in the Latin American right over the last decade. Long ruefully neglected by scholars, since the early 1990s an increasing number of articles and books have appeared that deal with right-wing movements and groups in various countries in more detail, for instance Sandra McGee Deutsch’s and Ronald H. Dolkart…

  • The New Voices of Chilean Fascism and the Popular Front, 1938-1942

Open Access•Markus Klein, Marcus Klein•ARTICLE•Journal of Latin American Studies•2001•Cited by: 1

In response to the gradual disappearance of the Movimiento Nacional Socialista as the dominant force of the extreme right during the course of 1938, new groups emerged on Chile's political scene. The Partido Nacional Fascista and the Movimiento Nacionalista de Chile, established in October 1938 and February 1940 respectively, attempted to assume the role of nacismo after it had turned to the left. Operating in a national and international environ…

  • Argentine Nacionalismo before Perón

Open Access•Markus Klein, Marcus Klein•ARTICLE•Bulletin of Latin American Research•2001•Cited by: 2

As the 1930s moved towards their close, a new generation of young men began to dominate the political wing of a generally more radical and assertive Argentine Nacionalismo, replacing the old guard that had found its inspiration in General José F. Uriburu and the regime he had led between September 1930 and February 1932. The Alianza de la Juventud Nacionalista, set up in September 1937, was the most important nacionalista faction of the period. I…
