  • Attribution of responsibility for corrupt decisions

Open Access•Maria Montero, Alex Possajennikov et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Political…•2026•References: 32

This paper studies responsibility attribution for outcomes of collusive bribery. In an experiment, participants labeled as either citizens or public officials can propose a bribery transaction to another participant (labeled as either public official or citizen, respectively), who decides whether to accept the proposal. We then let either the victims of the corrupt transaction or the bystanders of it judge the individual decisions of proposing an…

    Open Access•Javier Domingo-Espiñeira, Andrea Varaona et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2024

    F Villar, Rodrigo Serrat et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Intergenerational…•2019•References: 31

This study aims to explore attitudes towards age-discrepant relationships and examine the influence of variables such as gender, generation and culture on such attitudes. The sample was made up of 1,510 participants divided into three age groups (18–29, 60–69 and 70 years and over) from eight Latin American countries. Participants’ answers to two incomplete sentences regarding age-discrepant couples were content analyzed and a series of binary lo…

The purpose of this research was to explore attitudes toward older lesbians and gay men disclosing their sexual preferences in eight Latin American countries. Their answers to two open-ended questions were content-analyzed, and binary logistic regressions were run on the extreme attitudinal categories. Results showed that al…

  • Proportional Payoffs in Legislative Bargaining with Weighted Voting: A Characterization

    Maria Montero•ARTICLE•Quarterly Journal of Political…•2017

This paper examines the relationship between voting weights and expected equilibrium payoffs in legislative bargaining and provides a necessary and sufficient condition for payoffs to be proportional to weights. This condition has a natural interpretation in terms of the supply and demand for coalition partners. An implication of this condition is that Snyder et al.’s (2005) result, that payoffs are proportional to weights in large replicated gam…

  • Decision-making, contextual factors and values in power consumption

  • Inequity Aversion May Increase Inequity

    Open Access•Maria Montero•ARTICLE•The Economic Journal•2007•Cited by: 9•References: 18

Inequity aversion models have been used to explain equitable payoff divisions in bargaining games. I show that inequity aversion can actually "increase" the asymmetry of payoff division if unanimity is not required. This is because responders may be willing to accept a lower share rather than risk being left out. Inequity aversion may also affect comparative statics: the advantage of being the proposer can "decrease" as players become more impati…

  • Demand Commitment in Legislative Bargaining

    Open Access•Maria Montero, Juan J Vidal-Puga et al.•ARTICLE•American Political Science Review•2007•Cited by: 1•References: 17

Morelli (1999) provides a model of government formation in which the parties make payoff demands and the order of moves is chosen by the leading party. Morelli's main proposition states that the ex post distribution of payoffs inside the coalition that forms is proportional to the distribution of relative ex ante bargaining power. We provide a counterexample in which the leading party is able to obtain the entire payoff; furthermore, there are co…
