From normalisation to inclusion: Effects on pre-service teachers’ willingness to teach in inclusive classes
Teachers’ willingness to teach in inclusive classrooms consists of their intention and readiness to include students with a disability into their classes. This article reports on a qualitative pilot study examining how pre-service teachers understand the essence of including students with disability and how willing they are to engage in inclusive teaching. Partially structured interviews were held with 18 pre-service teachers in various training …
Disability during military service in Israel: Raising Awareness of Gender Differences
Women in Israel are required by law to serve in the national army. R. S. Peters' Normative Conception of Education and Educational Aims: R. S. Peters' Normative Conception of Education and Aims
This article aims to highlight why R. S. Peters' conceptual analysis of ‘education’ was such an important contribution to the normative field of philosophy of education. In the article, I do the following: 1) explicate Peters' conception of philosophy of education as a field of philosophy and explain his approach to the philosophical analysis of concepts; 2) emphasize several (normative) features of Peters' conception of education, while pointing…
Reactive Devaluation of an “Israeli” vs. “Palestinian” Peace Proposal
Three studies used the Palestinian-Israeli context to investigate the tendency for political antagonists to derogate each other's compromise proposals. In study 1, Israeli Jews evaluated an actual Israeli-authored peace plan less favorably when it was attributed to the Palestinians than when it was attributed to their own government. In study 2, both Israeli Jews and Israeli Arabs similarly devalued a Palestinian plan when it was ascribed to the …

Preformation of Ontogenetic Patterns
Most patterns of an organism develop reproducibly and predictably. Thus, most biological patterns are largely predetermined by the nature of the zygote and by the nature of the surrounding world. Some ontogenetic patterns can also be considered to be preformed. Eighteenth and nineteenth century definitions of ‘preformation’ suggested that all aspects of a precursor pattern—its elements and its configuration—are preserved during development. Today…
