Expatriation and career success
Very little is known about the linkages between expatriation and objective measures of career success. In this field study we address the expatriation–compensation attainment relationship, after controlling for different kinds of international experience, among 440 graduates of elite MBA programs from around the world. The results suggest that a positive compensation return only accrues to repatriates who have experienced more than one expatriate…
Nascent Entrepreneur
Nascent entrepreneurs are individuals actively trying, either alone or with others, to start a new business. The process of organization emergence involves four stages such as (i) start‐up intentions; (ii) gestation; (iii) infancy; and (iv) adolescence; and four transition points such as (i) conception; (ii) discontinuance; (iii) firm birth; and (iv) firm growth. All of these stages and transitions are affected by the social, political, and econo…
Parental Concerns About After-School Time

The Structure of Founding Teams
The mechanisms governing the composition of formal social groups (e.g., task groups, organizational founding teams) remain poorly understood, owing to (1) a lack of representative sampling from groups found in the general population, (2) a “success” bias among researchers that leads them to consider only those groups that actually emerge and survive, and (3) a restrictive focus on some theorized mechanisms of group composition (e.g., homophily) t…
Toward a Clarification of the Division of Labor Construct
Empirical and theoretical articles written between 1958-1981 whose primary focus was the division of labor were reviewed. Definitional and operational problems are discussed as they account for discrepancies that exist in the literature. Standardized definitions of the various components of the division of labor are proposed for guiding future research clarity through standardization
