Generative AI and LLMs in industry: A text-mining analysis and critical evaluation of guidelines and policy statements across 14 industrial sectors
The rise of Generative AI (GAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) has transformed industrial landscapes, offering unprecedented opportunities for efficiency and innovation while raising critical ethical, regulatory, and operational challenges. Despite growing adoption across sectors, little is known about how corporate governance frameworks address these multifaceted risks in a comparative, sector-specific manner—a clear knowledge gaps this study …
When the wind blows: Agricultural fire exposure, parental investment, and long-term outcomes

Environmental regulations can trigger unintended pollution externalities if they lack well-designed economic incentives or fail to account for the responses of polluters. This paper examines the effectiveness and unintended consequences of the Universal Prohibition on Straw Burning (UPSB) policy in China. By exploiting a generalized difference-in-differences design, we find that the UPSB policy significantly reduces agricultural fires and air pol…

Investigation of Incidents and Trends of Antimicrobial Resistance in Foodborne Pathogens in Eight Countries from Historical Sample Data
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) causes millions of illnesses every year, threatening the success of lifesaving antibiotic therapy and, thus, public health. To examine the rise and spread of antimicrobial resistance around the world, our study performs a multivariate statistical analysis of antimicrobial resistance gene data from eight different countries: the US, the UK, China, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Australia, and South Africa. Multi-dimensional…

The Impact of Drug Use on Earnings: A Life-Span Perspective
Cross-sectional and longitudinal causal analyses were carried out on a longitudinal cohort of employed adult males (N∼ 400) to investigate the relationship between various forms of drug use and earnings. By age 35, there are no cumulative effects of the use of illicit drugs on wages. Specification of the relationships at various stages of the life cycle reveals that the effects of illicit drug use are positive in the early stages of labor force p…
Vote Turnout of Nineteenth Amendment Women: The Enduring Effect of Disenfranchisement
"Nineteenth Amendment women" are women in the United States who came of age during or just after the era when women could not vote. The roughly 4,000 such women included in the National Election Studies of 1952-88 provide an unusual opportunity for testing whether general historical conditions during childhood and adolescence have enduring effects. Despite common claims of cohort effects, some scholars remain skeptical because cohort effects are …
