This article takes a critical look at the demonstrations against the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown through an analysis of Foucault’s biopolitics of liberal security. The idea, as many of the protestors contended, that the lockdown was a form of governmental tyranny, which they juxtaposed to the freedom of reopening, is criticized as baseless.
