  • Characterizing User Needs for GenAI Incorporation in Educational Games

Open Access•Maria Goldshtein, Ishrat Ahmed et al.•ARTICLE•Education Sciences•2026

This work explores user needs for educational games and gamification that incorporates Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). As GenAI is increasingly incorporated in educational settings, we must consider both the wide-spanning literature on gamification and games that have been shown to benefit learning, and characterize the needs and desires of relevant stakeholders in developing educational games that incorporate GenAI generally, and spe…

  • Granting permits to carbon emissions: Does the new production factor place a greater burden on capital or labor

Open Access•Fan Yu, Bin Ye et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

Given the internalization of emission costs and the scarcity of permits, carbon emission permits become an integral production input. We regard carbon emission permits as a new factor and add them into the general equilibrium model to analyze their burden distribution on other classical factors, capital, and labor. We find that the impact of scarce carbon emission permits on capital and labor income can be decomposed into two major effects: the s…

  • Millions of pet videos deepen our understanding of human–cat interactions with implications for management

Open Access•Haozhong Si, Fan Yu et al.•ARTICLE•People and Nature•2025

Free‐ranging cats pose significant threats to biodiversity, yet the cat‐related media online has attracted millions of viewers. The reasons behind this surge in popularity, however, remain underexplored. To address this gap, we conducted a comparative culturomic analysis of over 6 million comments and 60,000 unique tags from over 3 million animal‐related videos on Bilibili, a major Chinese video‐sharing platform. Using natural language processing…

Open Access•Xueping Ma, Wei Bai et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Objective: Although most studies have shown that neighborhood social cohesion (NSC) is associated with life satisfaction among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), it remains unclear how NSC is linked to life satisfaction. The present study aims to examine the potential mediation effect of depressive symptoms and sleep quality on the relationship between NSC and life satisfaction among Chinese individuals with T2DM. Methods: A cross-sec…

  • Co-Pyrolysis of Sewage Sludge and Wetland Biomass Waste for Biochar Production: Behaviors of Phosphorus and Heavy Metals

Open Access•Ilham Gbouri, Fan Yu et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Large amounts of sewage sludge (SS) and wetland plant wastes are generated in the wastewater treatment system worldwide. The conversion of these solid wastes into biochar through co-pyrolysis could be a promising resource utilization scheme. In this study, biochar was prepared by co-pyrolysis of SS and reed ( Phragmites australis , RD) using a modified muffle furnace device under different temperatures (300, 500, and 700 °C) and with different mi…

  • Dating preferences among self-identified gay men of Asian descent in the United States

Eric J Nehl, Colin L Talley et al.•ARTICLE•Asian American Journal of…•2014

Little is known about the dating preferences of Asian American gay men. To conceptualize the dating preferences among these men, the impact domains model (IDM) was used to investigate if nativity and/or acculturation might explain dating preferences. Previous studies have pointed out the problematic nature of a racist cultural stereotype that Asian American gay men prefer white partners (Choi, Yep, & Kumekawa, 1998; Han, 2008). The current findin…
