  • Novel subgroups of obesity and their association with outcomes

Open Access•Saki Takeshita, Yuichi Nishioka et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024

In this study, we identified seven subgroups of individuals with obesity using population-based data-driven cluster analysis. We clearly demonstrated important target subgroups for intervention as well as a metabolically healthy obesity group

  • Pharmacokinetic study of Ninjin'yoeito

Open Access•Takashi Matsumoto, Mikina Takiyama et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2021

Ninjin'yoeito (NYT), a Japanese traditional Kampo medicine, has been reported to exert various clinical benefits such as relief from fatigue, malaise, anorexia, frailty, sarcopenia, and cognitive dysfunction. Recently, some review articles described the pharmacological effects of NYT and additionally indicated the possibility that multiple ingredients in NYT contribute to these effects. However, pharmacokinetic data on the ingredients are essenti…

  • The insertions of the cruropedal muscles and implications for the locomotor evolution in primates

Yutaka Takahashi, Akiyoshi Matsumura et al.•ARTICLE•Zeitschrift für Morphologie und…•2002

We examined gross-anatomically the cruropedal muscles, which control the toe movements, in some species of insectivores, rodents and primates including humans, with a focus on the phylogenetic developments of these muscles including the distribution patterns of the tendons to the toes. Morphological changes corresponding to the phylogenetic advancement from primitive terrestrial mammals to arboreal primates were found in the short extensors and f…

  • Adaptation of cross-sectional morphology of the femoral diaphysis to exercise

Open Access•Akiyoshi Matsumura, Morihiko Okada et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropological Science•1999

The relationship between different modes of exercise and morphological features of the femoral cross section was investigated by conducting experiments on laboratory rats. Results were compared between bipedal standing exercises and quadrupedal running exercises with respect to cortical thickness around the circumference of ten serial cross-sections along the femoral diaphysis (80 points between 30-75% level) and the geometric properties of the s…
