The Index of Serbian Folktales site is a bilingual (Serbian–English) digital index of Serbian folk tale types based on the Aarne-Thompson-Uther system. Examples of how Spiritism merged with local beliefs have been the subject of research in religious studies, ethnology, and folkloristics. The Polaire Brotherhood ( La Fraternité polaire ) was an occult society active in interwar Paris. Some of the important names of the French occult scene of the period were among its members. The article give an overview of Neo-Pagan scene in Serbia grouped in two camps, Wiccan and Slavic, while showing at the same time the fluid character of division. Broader cultural context (Romanticism and cultural reception of folklore) is provided as an interpretational key. Polarity esotericism/folklore reflect some deeper currents within national culture showing Neo-Paganism thus not to be "odd" or "fringe" but as an alternative variant of "ma…

This paper deals with the presentation of female characters in legends about fate (ATU 934) from Serbian sources. They appear as the Fates, a bride, or a sister, and express various aspects of the feminine imaginarium. The Fates are chthonic in character and appear in a negative aspect. Antoine Faivre’s book about fairy tales (Les Contes de Grimm. Fate Written on the Forehead in Serbian Oral Narratives
This paper examines narratives about fate from the Serbian corpus, as well as beliefs related to them. A characteristic motif is that the demons of fate write fate on people's forehead. Such motifs and beliefs are also encountered elsewhere on the Balkans, especially in the areas that were under Turkish influence (Greece, Albania, Bulgaria), so it is undoubtedly a Balkanism.
