  • Epidemiological investigation of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and evaluation of the therapeutic effect of an integrated sports and medicine rehabilitation strategy for scoliosis treatment

Open Access•Xinxuan Xu, Jiyuan Li et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2026

Background Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is a common spinal deformity with significant health impacts. This study aimed to investigate the epidemiology of AIS in a Chinese region and evaluate the efficacy of an integrated sports-medicine rehabilitation (ISMR) strategy. Methods This study had two parts. First, a cross-sectional school-based screening investigated AIS epidemiology in adolescents aged 11–19 in Taizhou. Second, a retrospectiv…

  • Effects of Biodegradable Poly (Butylene Adipate‐Co‐Terephthalate) Microplastics on Grain Quality and Defense Mechanism of Wheat

Open Access•Huijie Yang, Yan Yan et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2026

Biodegradable poly (butylene adipate‐co‐terephthalate) (PBAT) plastics are an important alternative to conventional plastics used in agriculture; PBAT microplastics (MPs) are found in agricultural soils. However, little is known about the effects of PBAT MPs on crop toxicity, especially on edible fruit. Here, the effects of environmentally relevant concentrations of PBAT MPs on the growth, grain quality, and related molecular mechanisms of wheat …

Fangfei Liu, Liu Fangfei et al.•ARTICLE•Prehistoric Archaeology•2025

  • Excavations at the Xiangranggounan site reveal changes in dwellings during the Late Bronze Age on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Open Access•Qi Meng, Qingshui Meng et al.•ARTICLE•Antiquity•2025•References: 1

Xiangranggounan is an intensively occupied settlement associated with the Kayue culture on the north-eastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Excavations in 2022 and 2023 revealed five house types with clear stratigraphic relationships that help to expand current understanding of the evolution of prehistoric settlement patterns in harsh plateau environments

  • Nonlinear Influence of the Built Environment on the Attraction of the Third Activity

Open Access•Lin Luo, Xiping Yang et al.•ARTICLE•ISPRS International Journal of…•2024

Gaining an understanding of the intricate mechanisms between human activity and the built environment can help in promoting sustainable urban development. However, most scholars have focused on residents’ life and work behavior and have ignored the third activity (e.g., shopping, eating, and entertainment). In this study, a random forest algorithm and SHapley Additive exPlanation model were utilized to explore the nonlinear influence of the built…

  • Analysis on ChatGPT Technology Ethics Governance

    Jiyuan Li•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

Recently, ChatGPT, a popular "new species", has subverted the relationship between humans and technology, and its "autonomous learning" characteristic has caused various concerns among scholars. While the development of artificial intelligence brings convenience to humans, it also faces technological and ethical issues caused by technological uncertainty. Therefore, in order to fully utilize the advantages brought by ChatGPT and prevent the risks…

  • Soil labile organic carbon sequestration is tightly correlated with the abundance and diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in semiarid maize fields

Open Access•Ai‐Tian Ren, Bede S Mickan et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2021

Plastic film mulching can affect soil organic carbon (C) lability in semiarid regions. Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi represent an important route for plant‐derived C into soil and can be influenced by agricultural practices. Whether the changes of AM fungal community affect soil organic C sequestration is a fundamental question in semiarid environments. To this end, we conducted two field experiments investigating the influence of a Funnelifo…

  • Increasing periods after seeding under twice‐annually harvested alfalfa reduces soil carbon and nitrogen stocks in a semiarid environment

Open Access•Wei Wang, Zheng‐Guo Cheng et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2020

It is unclear how multi‐year planting of alfalfa affects soil carbon and nitrogen stocks. We investigated alfalfa fields which had been seeded at the start of the first year and then harvested twice a year for 2, 5,8, 10 and 20 years (wheat field, CK) in the semiarid Loess Plateau. In general, soil water storage tended to drop from the second to eighth year and then tended to increase in the tenth and twentieth years, displaying a V‐shaped curve.…

  • Reurbanisation in my hometown? Effect of return migration on migrants' urban settlement intention

Open Access•Jiangbin Yin, Xiaoyan Huang et al.•ARTICLE•Population Space and Place•2020•Cited by: 4•References: 27

Return migration has become a critical socio‐economic phenomenon—both between countries and within countries—and profoundly affects the development prospects in a migrants' country or region of origin. Studies have mainly focused on the return of overseas migrants and their employment transformation and social integration upon return; few studies have investigated internal return migrants and their residential choice and urbanisation effect. To f…

  • Foraging and farming

    Open Access•Lele Ren, G Dong et al.•ARTICLE•Antiquity•2020•Cited by: 11•References: 14

Archaeological research has documented the migration of Neolithic farmers onto the Tibetan Plateau by 4000 BC. How these incoming groups interacted, if at all, with local indigenous foragers, however, remains unclear. New archaeobotanical and zooarchaeological data from the Zongri site in the north-eastern Tibetan Plateau suggest that local foragers continued to hunt but supplemented their diet with agricultural products in the form of millet. Th…
