  • From Loom to Classroom

Open Access•Pankaj Sharma, Sunil Verma et al.•ARTICLE•ShodhKosh: Journal of Visual and…•2024

One of the current challenges in mathematics education is how to link school mathematics to student’s culture and everyday activities to improve the quality of the student’s mathematical learning. Drawing ideas from scholarship in ethno-mathematics, this study attempted to comprehend the mathematical concepts embedded in the weaving art of jolaha peoples. The study employed a qualitative research method to unravel the mathematical elements. Evide…

  • Leadership/Teamwork Self-Efficacy Scale

Open Access•Eric D Deemer, Pankaj Sharma et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Career Development•2022

The Leadership/Teamwork Self-Efficacy Scale has been shown to be an effective tool for measuring interpersonal competence beliefs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics academic settings. However, little is known about its psychometric properties. The present research explored the measure’s longitudinal factor structure in the context of an energy science intervention for high school students. Results of multiple group confirmatory …

  • Pharmacognostical, phytochemical, antimicrobial and hepatoprotective screening of some plants of family rhamnaceae

Open Access•Sanwar Mal Yadav, Vijay Sharma et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Health…•2022

Medicinal plants are used in traditional system of medicine to treat various diseases and many of these plants have been evaluated for their different pharmacological activities. Ziziphus mauritiana(ZM) (Rhamnaceae) is found wild and cultivated in many parts of India, Burma and Srilanka. Seeds of Ziziphus mauritianahave been reported to have sedative-hypnotic, hypotensive, antihypoxic, antihyperlipidemic and hypothermic activities. It is reported…

  • Evaluation of anti-diabetic activity of aqueous and alcoholic extract citrullus colocynthis and trigonella foenum graceum in STZ induced diabetes in rats

Open Access•Mahesh Kumar, Mahesh Kumar Sharma et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Health…•2022

The aim of this study was to assess the effects of Aqueous and Alcoholic Extract Citrullus Colocynthis and Trigonella Foenum Graceum in different ratio through biochemical factors and histopathological changes in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. The current experimental study was performed on 48 male rats, which became diabetic with 60 mg/kg body weight intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ). The animals were divided into eight gr…

  • Caesalpinia crista seeds-in vivo screening of hepatoprotective efficacy against CCL4 induced hepatotoxicity

Open Access•Jaspreet Sodhi, Jaspreet Kaur Sodhi et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Health…•2022

Ethanolic extract of Caesalpinia crista(commonly known as Latakaranja) seeds, belonging to family Caesalpiniaceae, was evaluated for hepatoprotective efficacy in Wistar rats against hepatic injury carbon induced tetrachloride. The toxicant CCl4(1:1 mixture in olive oil)was administered to rats (3 mL/kg)i.p., twice a week for 4 weeks to induce liver toxicity. The ethanolic extract of seeds of Caesalpinia cristawas administered at doses of 150 and …

  • Life Expectancy of White and Non-White Elite Heavyweight Boxers

Open Access•Thang S Han, Jonathan Gabe et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Racial and Ethnic…•2020•References: 43

Background In post-industrial countries, ethnic minorities suffer poorer health and premature deaths. The present study examined ethnic differences in life expectancy and related features among elite heavyweight boxers. Methods Dates of birth and death, anthropometry, and championship years were gathered from media archives for champions and challengers (never been a champion) between years 1889 and 2019. Cox regression adjusted for age at contes…

  • A Comparison of the Urothelial Cells and Cervix Scraping Techniques in the Screening Process for Cancer of the Cervix

Open Access•Gursatej Gandhi, Pankaj Sharma et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Human Ecology•2005

Earlier detection of carcinoma of the cervix can achieve a goal of total or near total eradication of invasive carcinoma of the cervix bringing about sharp reductions in its incidence and mortality due to it. This has significance for Indian women where the incidence of the cancer and recognized risk factors are high. The Micronucleus assays in exfoliated bladder and cervical cells of women, coming to attention for gynaecological complications an…

  • Maximum ages of the Côa valley (Portugal) engravings measured with Chlorine-36

    Open Access•Fred M Phillips, Montgomery Flinsch et al.•ARTICLE•Antiquity•1997•Cited by: 10•References: 13

Panel faces in teh Côa valley, Portugal, were available for engraving during the Upper Palaeolithic, according to 36Cl exposure ages of 16,000 to 136,000 years

  • Water and Sediment Yields into the Sutlej River from the High Himalaya

    Open Access•Pankaj Sharma, P D Sharma et al.•ARTICLE•Mountain Research and Development•1991

Extensive high-quality hydrologic and sediment yield data would greatly aid planning for the use of water resources of the Sutlej River system. The total catchment within the mountains is 47,480 km2, with the Spiti and Kinnaur tributaries accounting for 5,875 and 5,157 km2, respectively, in India. By far the largest part lies in Tibet. This paper attempts to utilize the available data to provide a first estimate of the magnitude of the problem fa…

  • Ca Concentrations in Modern Bone and Their Implications for Dating

Roy Middleton, David Fink et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1989•Cited by: 1

We have made the first measurements without pre-enrichment of 41 Ca in terrestrial rock and bone samples using accelerator mass spectrometry. Although the results in tufa deposits from Egypt are in good agreement with the saturation value of 8×10 -15 predicted by Raisbeck and Yiou (1979), the average 41 Ca: 40 Ca ratio of 2×10 -15 (range: 0.6 to 4.2×10 -15 ) that we measure in modern bone is an order of magnitude lower than that obtained previous…

  • Revealing Histories of Exposure Using In Situ Produced 26 Al and 10 Be in Libyan Desert Glass

Open Access•Jeffrey Klein, Robert Giegengack et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•1986•Cited by: 6•References: 10

We present the results of measurements of 26 Al and 10 Be produced in situ in 12 samples of Libyan Desert Glass by cosmic rays during the last ten million years. Based on the variability of the concentrations of 10 Be and of the 26 Al/ 10 Be ratios we measured, we conclude that individual fragments of glass have experienced different exposure histories, implying several major redistributions of the glass within the past 10 6 years. The 26 Al and …
