Self-directed teaching system driven by video analysis feedback improves surgical skill training for clinical interns: A randomized controlled trial
BACKGROUND: Clinical skills training in surgical clerkships relies heavily on faculty supervision, yet traditional models often face time constraints, lack of individualized guidance, and the inability to provide timely feedback. Technology-enhanced, learner-centred approaches, such as video-based self-directed systems, may help address these limitations. The Self-directed Teaching System (SDTS) integrates multi-angle video recording, self-paced …
How land property rights fuel agricultural mechanization in rural China
Improving agricultural machinery inputs and enhancing the efficiency of agricultural production is an important way to promote agricultural modernization and address food security challenges. Since 2013, China has implemented a comprehensive land tenure certification policy (LTCP) to formalize and stabilize rural land property rights. This study used panel data from the China Household Finance Survey (CHFS) conducted in 2011–2015 to investigate t…
Inference in Semiparametric Formation Models for Directed Networks
We propose a semiparametric model for dyadic link formations in directed networks. The model contains a set of degree parameters that measure different effects of popularity or outgoingness across nodes, a regression parameter vector that reflects the homophily effect resulting from the nodal attributes or pairwise covariates associated with edges, and a set of latent random noises with unknown distributions. Our interest lies in inferring the un…
Anxiety, depression, and their association with unintentional injury risk among older adult populations in Guangxi, China: A cross-sectional study
Background The aging population presents a significant public health challenge, particularly concerning mental health and injury prevention. Anxiety and depression are common among the older adult, affecting their quality of life and increasing the risk of unintentional injuries (UI). This study aims to explore the association between anxiety and depression and UI risk among the older adult in Guangxi, China, using data from the 2023 National Hea…
Policy practice for narrowing urban–rural healthcare gaps: Determinants and implementation path of the urban doctors servicing rural areas policy in Beijing, China
Background: The urban-rural disparities in healthcare resources and service quality remain a critical challenge for equitable public health development in China. To address this, Beijing has implemented the "Urban Doctors Serving Rural Areas (UDSR)" policy-a key counterpart support initiative. Its core goal is to bridge urban-rural healthcare gaps by mobilizing urban medical professionals to serve rural institutions. Methods: Grounded in Van Mete…
The Media Encoding Mechanisms of the ‘Transparent Illusion’ in the Post-Covid Era
Enhancing urban sustainability: An emergy-based framework to support green infrastructure planning
Green infrastructure (GI) is a vital strategy for climate change adaptation and urban sustainability, yet integrating its multifunctionality remains significantly challenging. This study develops a sustainability-oriented optimization framework for GI systems, incorporating emergy analysis, multi-objective optimization, and regional climate models. It highlights a sound cross-domain assessment and addresses real-world challenges such as limited d…

Quantifying weather-induced unreliable public transportation service in cold regions under future climate model scenarios
Climate change, particularly in cold regions, significantly challenges public transportation systems. This study conducts a comprehensive analysis of weather patterns and public transit reliability in the context of climate change impacts. Leveraging advanced modeling techniques, including a ridge regression model for snow water equivalent data estimation and a long short-term memory (LSTM) based on recurrent neural network, the study aims to ass…

Zhang Yimou Films: The Reflections on Chinese Society and Culture in the Context of Republic of China (1912-1949)
This study adopts qualitative research methods, and the research texts are three Zhang Yimou films that reflect the history and social culture of the Republic of China, namely Red Sorghum, Ju Dou, and Raise the Red Lantern, also known as the Red Trilogy. This study explores the phenomenon of consuming history through the art form of films. The study finds that history is not only concerned and used by historians and archaeologists but can also be…
Cultural Landscape and Rural Revitalization in the Villages of Mountainous Central Shandong Region, China
This study takes the mountainous villages in central Shandong as the research object, which becomes the entry point for studying the concepts of cultural landscape and revitalization. This study examines some villages with special cultural landscapes due to their unique physical space. Later, due to industrialization, they suffered a cultural crisis and then revitalized after restoration, and then reused it to generate value. It explores the inte…
Dong's Wind and Rain Bridge in Chengyang Bazhai Village at Liuzhou, China: Public Space and Meaning Change in the Process of Minority Development
This qualitative research focuses on Dong's Wind and Rain Bridges in Chengyang Bazhai in Liuzhou, China. This research explores the academic issue of public space and meaning change in the process of minority development, through the Dong's Wind and Rain Bridges phenomenon. The findings of this research are that public space in all societies in the world is a fusion of space production and meaning and constructs identity and social relations. It …

The contribution rate of stem‐leaf and root of alfalfa ( Medicago sativa L.) to sediment and runoff reduction
Seasonal changes in ground canopy and root density induced by the growth of alfalfa ( Medicago sativa L.) may strongly influence the variation in runoff and sediment across alfalfa growth stages. In this study, eight alfalfa plots with and without ground canopy and two bare soil plots (CK) were used to investigate the effect of alfalfa growth on the regulation of runoff and sediment during one growing season (seedling stage, S1; budding stage, S2…
Social Group Differences in the Exposure Risk of Covid-19: A Case Study in Beijing, China
Taking Beijing as a case, this paper conducted a survey to collect the characteristics of residents' daily activities, including the mode of frequency and duration of travel, the type and environment of activities, and the duration and frequency of activities. We calculated the COVID-19 exposure risk of residents in different activities based on the exposure risk formula; the influencing factors of residents' exposure risk were analyzed by regres…
