Comparative efficacy of green exercise versus indoor exercise for depression and anxiety: A systematic review and network meta-analysis
Background Physical activity is a proven intervention for depression and anxiety, but the optimal environment for exercising remains debated. While “green exercise” (in nature) is theorized to offer superior mental health benefits to indoor exercise, a comprehensive quantitative ranking of these modalities against a no-exercise control is lacking. We aimed to determine the comparative efficacy of green exercise, indoor exercise, and control condi…

Status and analysis of undetected plague cases in Yunnan Province, China
Background The virulence of Yersinia pestis strains in the Rattus flavipectus plague focus is relatively low. The purpose of this study was to investigate the undetected, sporadic plague cases in plague foci and provide the basis for plague prevention and control. Methods A 3-year-old plague-confirmed case was investigated in the R. flavipectus plague focus of Yunnan Province in 2020 due to the intensive screening for fever symptoms during the co…
Ocean feedback on 50–80-day boreal winter intraseasonal oscillation in the Indian Ocean: Comparison of atmospheric and coupled Cesm2 simulations
The role of sea surface temperature (SST) variability in the boreal winter intraseasonal oscillation (ISO) over the tropical Indian Ocean (TIO) is investigated in this study using the Community Earth System Model Version 2. An atmospheric general coupled model (AGCM) run forced by daily SSTs derived from a parallel coupled circulation model (CGCM) run is compared with reanalysis and the original coupled simulation. The comparison of atmospheric-c…
Identification and analysis of gemstone binding materials on imperial rank belts excavated from the tomb of Murongzhi
This paper analyzes and identifies the binders used in the jewel settings of the Baodian and Diexie belts excavated from the tomb of Murongzhi in Wuwei, Gansu, China. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) indicated the presence of protein in the binder samples. The result of gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC‐MS) shows that samples from both contained hydroxyproline, a characteristic amino acid for animal glue. Principal component …
Difference in the Sexual and Reproductive Health of Only-Child Students and Students With Siblings, According to Sex and Region: Findings From the National College Student Survey
Objective: The differences in sexual knowledge, attitudes, behaviors, seeking behaviors for sex-related knowledge, and sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes among only-child students and students with siblings in China, was examined for sex- and region- specific effects. Research Design and Methods: Data on 49,569 students from the 2019 National College Student Survey on Sexual and Reproductive Health, conducted across 31 provinces in mai…
Sex and Urban–Rural Differences in the Relationship between Childhood Sexual Abuse and Mental Health among Chinese College Students
This study aimed to reveal sex and urban-rural differences in the association between childhood sexual abuse (CSA) and mental health among Chinese college students. The study used data from the "National College Student Survey on Sexual and Reproductive Health 2019", a cross-sectional study conducted in all 31 provinces of mainland China. Weighted logistic regression analysis was conducted to determine the association between CSA (noncontact CSA,…
Comparing access to sexual and reproductive health services among sexual minority youths and their peers: Findings from a national survey in China
Although SMY reported higher utilization of SRH services compared to their heterosexual counterparts, access to SRH services remains low among Chinese youths. Greater focus should be placed on improving access to SMY-friendly SRH services among Chinese youths
Using social media to discover unwanted behaviours displayed by visitors to nature parks: Comparisons of nationally and privately owned parks in the Greater Kruger National Park, South Africa
Managers of protected areas that are popular among tourists need to combine conservation goals with assurances of visitor safety while providing high-quality service. The compromise amongst these goals is reflected in the protected area regulations; however, monitoring of compliance with these regulations is costly and laborious. Social media present a new opportunity to observe visitor behaviour patterns in an unobtrusive and inexpensive manner.…
Location or Hukou: What Most Limits Fertility of Urban Women in China
China's fertility rate is below replacement level. The government is attempting to increase this rate by relaxing the one-child policy. China faces a possible tradeoff because further urbanization is needed to raise incomes but may reduce future fertility. We decompose China's rural-urban fertility gaps using both de facto and de jure criteria for defining the urban population. The fertility-depressing effects of holding urban hukou are more than…
