  • Improving diversity in study participation

Open Access•Lisa Shea, Jacqueline Pesa et al.•ARTICLE•Health Expectations•2022

INTRODUCTION: The lack of racial/ethnic diversity in research potentially limits the generalizability of findings to a broader population, highlighting the need for greater diversity and inclusion in clinical research. Qualitative research (i.e., focus groups) was conducted to identify (i) the potential motivators and barriers to study participation across different races and ethnicities; (ii) preferred delivery of education and information to su…

  • Three Years of Δ 14 CO 2 Observations from Maize Leaves in the Netherlands and Western Europe

    Open Access•D Bozhinova, Sanne W L Palstra et al.•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2016•Cited by: 2•References: 31

Atmospheric Δ 14 CO 2 measurements are useful to investigate the regional signals of anthropogenic CO 2 emissions, despite the currently scarce observational network for Δ 14 CO 2 . Plant samples are an easily attainable alternative, which have been shown to work well as a qualitative measure of the atmospheric Δ 14 CO 2 signals integrated over the time a plant has grown. Here, we present the 14 C analysis results for 89 individual maize ( Zea ma…

  • Quality of life of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia in the Netherlands

    Open Access•Kim Holtzer-Goor, K M Holtzer-Goor et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2015

CLL patients differ most from the general population on role functioning, fatigue, concerns about future health, and having not enough energy. Once treatment is indicated, HRQoL becomes considerably compromised. This applies to all treatments, including chlorambucil, which is considered to be a mild treatment

  • Discovering Semantic Regularity in Lexical Resources

    W Peters, Adam Kilgarriff•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2000•Cited by: 1•References: 6

We first describe four varieties of thesaurus: (1) Roget-style thesauruses, produced to help people find synonyms and antonyms when they are writing; (2) WordNet and Euro WordNet; (3) thesauruses produced (manually) to support information retrieval systems; and (4) thesauruses produced automatically from corpora. We then contrast thesauruses and dictionaries, and present a small experiment in which we look at polysemy in relation to thesaurus str…

  • Simple

Alessandro Lenci, Núria Bel et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2000•Cited by: 2

The project LE-SIMPLE is an innovative attempt at building harmonized syntacticsemantic lexicons for twelve European languages, intended for use in different Human Language Technology applications. SIMPLE provides a general design model for the encoding of a large amount of semantic information, ranging from ontological typing, to argument structure and terminology. SIMPLE thus provides a general framework for resource development, where state-of…
