  • What could forest landscape restoration look like in the Ramu-Markham Valley of Papua New Guinea

    Open Access•Kanchana Wiset, Robert J Fisher et al.•ARTICLE•Land Use Policy•2022•References: 19

Implementing global environmental initiatives at the local level requires modifications to accommodate site-specific factors such as social organisation, land tenure and gender. This is particularly challenging for forest restoration initiatives such as Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR), which require the cooperation and support of local communities and families. FLR has been developed as a global approach to forest restoration supported by vari…

  • Job Demands and Resources among Healthcare Professionals during Virus Pandemics

    Open Access•Thomas W Britt, Marissa L Shuffler et al.•ARTICLE•Applied Psychology•2021

The present article examines how job demands and resources are related to indices of strain among healthcare professionals during virus pandemics. The article also presents the results of a study examining the relationships between COVID‐19 demands (e.g., lack of personal protective equipment, concerns about infecting family members), resources (meaningful work, social support), and mental health strain within a sample of emergency medicine perso…

  • Gendering Pacification

    Open Access•Helen Monk, Joanna Gilmore et al.•ARTICLE•Feminist Review•2019•Cited by: 1•References: 29

This article seeks to consider the policing of anti-fracking protests at Barton Moss, Salford, from November 2013 to April 2014. We argue that women at Barton Moss were considered by the police to be transgressing the socio-geographical boundaries that establish the dominant cultural and social order, and were thus responded to as disruptive and disorderly subjects. The article draws upon recent work on pacification, which views police power as h…

  • Working together to increase student satisfaction

    Rebecca Maxwell-Stuart, Babak Taheri et al.•ARTICLE•Studies in Higher Education•2018•Cited by: 2•References: 58

This study extends our knowledge on co-creation of value in higher education. The paper examines the relationship between support, co-creation of value and students’ satisfaction, as well as moderating factors including mode of study and fee status, via 979 survey responses from undergraduate students. Analysis using partial least squares found support to be important in determining co-creation of value and, in turn, student satisfaction. Results…

  • That is not facilitating peaceful protest. That is dismantling the protest’

    Joanna Gilmore, William Jackson et al.•ARTICLE•Policing & Society•2017•Cited by: 12•References: 5

In the wake of the death of Ian Tomlinson at the London G20 protests in 2009, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of the Constabulary proposed a number of reforms aimed at making public order policing strategies more ‘human-rights compliant’. One of the most significant developments has been the introduction of Protest Liaison Officers whose role is to build links between police and protesters through the establishment of dialogue and relationships based …
