Alcohol‐related sexual harassment in the workplace
Smoking cessation aids and strategies
Snus use was found to be a "stand-alone" cessation aid, and only weakly associated with the use of other cessation aids. Further investigation of cessation aid preferences is needed, especially among smokers with little or no contact with health services and/or for whom traditional cessation aids have no appeal
Public support for further regulating smoking, snus and e-cigarettes in Norway, and its associations with risk perceptions and tobacco use
Overall, these findings illustrate the key role of risk perceptions in forming public opinions regarding tobacco-preventive regulations and underline the importance of information to ensure that population risk perceptions are accurate
The role of alcohol use and cigarette smoking in sickness absence
Daily smoking is associated with sickness absence. A negative social gradient was found in the smoking - absence association. Reduced daily smoking might give a reduction in sickness absence
The relative impact of smoking, alcohol use and drug use on general sickness absence among Norwegian employees
According to this study, daily smoking and use of medical drugs are the substance use habits most closely associated with sickness absence. Implications for future research are discussed
Adolescent perceptions of dissuasive sticks
This study supports earlier findings, and suggest that the use of unpleasant colours and warnings printed directly on cigarette sticks could increase perceived harmfulness, reduce notions of good taste, and possibly reduce desires to experiment with cigarettes in adolescence
Exposure to smoking in films and smoking behaviour among Norwegian 15- to 20-year-olds
Studies from several countries have revealed significant effects of exposure to smoking in films on smoking behaviour and attitudes among adolescents. This study presents the first findings from the Scandinavian cultural region on this topic. With the objective to test for significant adjusted relationships between exposure to smoking in films and established smoking among 15- to 20-year-old respondents, and susceptibility to smoking among non-sm…
How Has the Availability of Snus Influenced Cigarette Smoking in Norway
The experience with snus in Norway might indicate what will happen when alternative nicotine products--are allowed to compete with cigarettes in the nicotine market
Young smokers and non-smokers perceptions of typical users of plain vs. branded cigarette packs
To the extent that plain packaging contributes to making smoking images less positive, it can potentially be an efficient aid in reducing smoking uptake among adolescents
Irrational beliefs revisited

Gambling Behaviour and the Prevalence of Gambling Problems in Adult EGM Gamblers when EGMs are Banned. A Natural Experiment
The Population Mean and the Proportion of Frequent Gamblers
Lessons from the Grey Area
Gambling and problem gambling in Norway
In this article, the findings of a Norwegian national gambling survey carried out in 2002 among the adult population (aged 15–74 years) are discussed. While the survey shows a high level of gambling in the population as a whole (80.6% participation over the last 12 months), problem gambling levels are comparatively low (1.4% over the lifetime). This article suggests that this may partly be the result of a bias in the sample, and should be conside…
The Catholic Church in Denmark
The last few years have been marked by events which bring to light the new growth of the Church since she regained her liberty in countries in which she had suffered, first persecution, then suppression, and finally an obstinate, lingering prejudice, kept alive by a false tradition. Three years ago Catholics in England celebrated the centenary of their emancipation, and the few thousand Catholics of Sweden kept with great rejoicing the eleven hun…
