  • Depression tendency individuals’ self-evaluation bias during social comparison with friend

Open Access•Rui Kou, Rui Xu et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2026

Social comparison is an important process that affects an individual’s self-assessment and subjective well-being. Previous studies have observed abnormal social comparison tendencies among depressed individuals, which may account for their social avoidance behavior. In this study, we asked participants to finish a simple gambling task with a friend, during which they could observe the outcome of their choice and that of their friend’s simultaneou…

  • Psychological and Brain Responses to Artificial Intelligence’s Violation of Community Ethics

Open Access•Yue He, Ruolei Gu et al.•ARTICLE•Cyberpsychology Behavior and…•2024

Human moral reactions to artificial intelligence (AI) agents’ behavior constitute an important aspect of modern-day human–AI relationships. Although previous studies have mainly focused on autonomy ethics, this study investigates how individuals judge AI agents’ violations of community ethics (including betrayals and subversions) compared with human violations. Participants’ behavioral responses, event-related potentials (ERPs), and individual di…

  • A cognitive computational mechanism for mutual cooperation

Xiaoyan Wu, Xiao-yan Wu et al.•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica Sinica•2024

  • Emotional autobiographical memory retrieval in time domain

Rui Xu, Christina Yi Jin et al.•ARTICLE•Memory•2023

Autobiographical memory (AM) is an important psychological phenomenon that has significance for self-development and mental health. The psychological mechanisms of emotional AM retrieval and their association with individual emotional symptoms remain largely unclear in the literature. For this purpose, the current study provided cue words to elicit emotional AMs. Event-related potentials (ERPs) associated with the retrieval process of AMs were re…

  • Loss context enhances preferences for generosity but reduces preferences for honesty

Open Access•Yijie Zhang, Yuzhu Zhai et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Social…•2023•References: 95

The current literature has revealed mixed evidence on whether loss (vs. gain) context promotes or curtails human prosociality. The current study (N=96) aimed to address this issue by examining whether gain/loss context has distinct effects on different prosocial preferences combining computational modelling with Dictator Game and Message Game. These interactive games allow for dissociating preferences for generosity and honesty, which have been r…

  • Resource scarcity aggravates ingroup bias

Open Access•Fang Cui, Kexin Deng et al.•ARTICLE•British Journal of Psychology•2023•Cited by: 2•References: 82

Previous studies examining the relationship between ingroup bias and resource scarcity have produced heterogeneous findings, possibly due to their focus on the allocation of positive resources (e.g. money). This study aims to investigate whether ingroup bias would be amplified or eliminated when perceived survival resources for counteracting negative stimuli are scarce. For this purpose, we exposed the participants and another confederate of the …
