  • Recent Advances in the Evaluation of Serological Assays for the Diagnosis of Sars-CoV-2 Infection and Covid-19

Open Access•Angela Chiereghin, Rocco Maurizio Zagari et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2021

Introduction: Few data on the diagnostic performance of serological tests for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection are currently available. We evaluated sensitivity and specificity of five different widely used commercial serological assays for the detection of SARS-CoV-2–specific IgG, IgM, and IgA antibodies using reverse transcriptase-PCR assay in nasopharyngeal swab as reference standard test. Methods: A total…

  • Measuring Probabilistic Reasoning

Open Access•Caterina Primi, Kinga Morsanyi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Behavioral Decision…•2017•Cited by: 2•References: 3

Probabilistic reasoning skills are important in various contexts. The aim of the present study was to develop a new instrument (the Probabilistic Reasoning Scale – PRS) to accurately measure low levels of probabilistic reasoning ability in order to identify people with difficulties in this domain. Item response theory was applied to construct the scale, and to investigate differential item functioning (i.e., whether the items were invariant) acro…

  • Are systemizing and autistic traits related to talent and interest in mathematics and engineering? Testing some of the central claims of the empathizing-systemizing theory

Open Access•Kinga Morsanyi, Caterina Primi et al.•ARTICLE•British Journal of Psychology•2012•References: 63

In two experiments, we tested some of the central claims of the empathizing-systemizing (E-S) theory. Experiment 1 showed that the systemizing quotient (SQ) was unrelated to performance on a mathematics test, although it was correlated with statistics-related attitudes, self-efficacy, and anxiety. In Experiment 2, systemizing skills, and gender differences in these skills, were more strongly related to spatial thinking styles than to SQ. In fact,…

  • Science‐based R&d in Schumpeterian Growth

    Open Access•Guido Cozzi, Silvia Galli•ARTICLE•Scottish Journal of Political…•2009•Cited by: 1•References: 7

Firm success is often associated with the development of better products. Private firms undertake applied R&D seeking market advantage, by capitalizing on the freely accessible results of basic research. But unpatentable basic research often fails to address applied R&D open problems. What is the role of the incentives in improving the innovative performance of an economy by matching partially motivated public researchers to their mission? Someti…

  • Archaeometric Analyses on ‘Corinthian B’ Transport Amphorae Found at Gela (Sicily, Italy)

Open Access•Germana Barone, Vincenzo Crupi et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2004•Cited by: 2•References: 5

The aim of this work is to throw light on the archaic production of ‘Corinthian B’ amphorae, which are widely diffused in the Western Mediterranean basin and are also present in Greece, but whose geographical provenance is still under discussion. We analysed a group of 37 samples belonging to different ceramic classes dated to the sixth and fifth centuries bc . In particular, there were 19 sherds of trade amphorae of the so‐called archaic ‘Corint…
