  • Temporal scaling of long-term co-occurring agricultural contaminants and the implications for conservation planning

Open Access•Xiuyu Liang, Keith E Schilling et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2021

Stemming the export of agricultural contaminants such as nitrogen, phosphorus, sediment, and bacteria in rivers is needed to improve water quality in agricultural regions. However, patterns and trends of these co-occurring agricultural contaminants are relatively unexplored owing to the lack of long-term and high-frequency data sets needed to capture their fluctuations over different time scales. Using a dataset measured at the Raccoon River in w…

  • Livestock manure driving stream nitrate

    Open Access•Christopher S Jones, Chad W Drake et al.•ARTICLE•AMBIO•2019•References: 35

  • Volatility Forecasting With Range-Based EGARCH Models

Michael W Brandt, Christopher S Jones•ARTICLE•Journal of Business and Economic…•2006

We provide a simple, yet highly effective framework for forecasting return volatility by combining exponential generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity models with data on the range. Using Standard and Poor's 500 index data for 1983–2004, we demonstrate the importance of a long-memory specification, based on either a two-factor structure or fractional integration, that allows for some asymmetry between market returns and volatili…

  • The impact of a multidisciplinary, integrated approach on improving the health and quality of care for individuals dealing with multiple chronic conditions

    Christina M Krause, Christopher S Jones et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Orthopsychiatry•2006•References: 26

This study examined the effects of using a multidisciplinary, integrated, whole-person, team advocate approach to educate and empower participants with multiple chronic illnesses and coordinate, monitor, and support their health care process. Individuals (N = 39) from Midwest hospitals participated and completed self-report instruments. Changes in participants' functioning were also measured with diagnostic measures completed by the team advocate…

  • The State of the Art on Zen (and the Art of the State)

    Christopher Jones, Christopher S Jones•ARTICLE•Global Society•2002•References: 3

  • Politicizing travel and climatizing philosophy

    Christopher Jones, Christopher S Jones•ARTICLE•Japan Forum•2002•Cited by: 1•References: 8

This article seeks to locate the geo-social philosophies of Montesquieu and Watsuji Tetsur l within the distinct traditions of travel writing in Enlightenment Europe and early twentieth-century Japan. Both men exhibit common concerns for the nature of nation and nationalism, politicizing travel as a means of exploring Otherness. However, L'Esprit des Lois (1750) and F do (1935) offer qualitatively distinct philosophical responses to the question …
