  • Paternal lineages in southern Iberia provide time frames for gene flow from mainland Europe and the Mediterranean world

Open Access•Candela Hernandez, Candela L Hernández et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2019

The particular Andalusian R1b-M269 assemblage confirms the shallow topology of the clade. Moreover, the sharing of lineages with the rest of Europe indicates the impact in Iberia of an amount of pre-existing diversity, with the possible exception of R1b-DF27. Lineages such as J2-M172 and G-M201 highlight the importance of maritime travels of early farmers who reached the Iberian Peninsula

  • Genetic Position of Andalusians from Huelva in Relation to Other European and North African Populations: A Study Based on GM and KM Allotypes

Rosario Calderón, Beatriz Ambrosio et al.•ARTICLE•Human Biology•2006•References: 2

An understanding of population relationships in the Mediterranean region is crucial to the reconstruction of recent human evolution. Andalusia, the most southern region of Spain, has been continuously and densely occupied since ancient times and has a rich history of contacts with many different Mediterranean populations. Thus, to understand the Mediterranean peopling process, investigators should analyze the population relationships between the …

We analysed the O allele polymorphism in a sample of 33 Berbers from the Siwa population, all of them of phenotype O and unrelated to one another. The results show an important genetic diversity considering the limited number of individuals under study. The population must have been in contact with other people in spite of the geographical and cultural isolation. Siwa was an important stopping place for caravans in the desert: it was subjected to…

  • The Molecular Dissection of mtDNA Haplogroup H Confirms That the Franco-Cantabrian Glacial Refuge Was a Major Source for the European Gene Pool

Open Access•Alessandro Achilli, Chiara Rengo et al.•ARTICLE•The American Journal of Human…•2004

  • Genetic Diversity in Tunisia: A Study Based on the GM Polymorphism of Human Immunoglobulins

    Karima Fadhlaoui-Zid, Karima Fadhlaoui‐zid et al.•ARTICLE•Human Biology•2004•Cited by: 5•References: 8

The GM polymorphism of human immunoglobulins is analyzed in three Berber populations of southern Tunisia and compared to other GM data. Genetic diversity among Tunisian populations is higher than that among Europeans but does not exhibit any significant geographic or linguistic structure. This result suggests a complex pattern of genetic differentiation
