  • Early-onset catatonia associated with SHANK3 mutations

Open Access•Dirk Dhossche, Dirk M Dhossche et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2023

The presence of catatonic symptoms from childhood associated with autistic traits leads us to consider that this singular entity fundamentally related to SHANK3 mutations could be a form of early-onset catatonia. Further case studies are needed to confirm our observations

  • Bayesian chronology construction and substance time

    Open Access•Thomas S Dye, Caitlin E Buck et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2023•Cited by: 3•References: 7

  • Environmental changes in SW France during the Middle to Upper Paleolithic transition from the pollen analysis of an eastern North Atlantic deep-sea core

Open Access•Tiffanie Fourcade, Marı́a Fernanda Sánchez Goñi et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2022

Evaluating synchronies between climate and cultural changes is a prerequisite for addressing the possible effect of environmental changes on human populations. Searching for synchronies during the Middle-Upper Paleolithic transition (ca. 48–36 ka) is hampered by the limits of radiocarbon dating techniques and the large chronological uncertainties affecting the archaeological and paleoclimatic records, as well by their low temporal resolution. Her…

  • Alternatives to Gold Standard Diagnostic Tools for Distinguishing “Natural Kinds” on the Autism Spectrum

    Open Access•Anne Philippe•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

Next-generation sequencing techniques have accelerated the discovery of rare mutations responsible for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in genes involved in a large number of physiological processes, including the control of gene expression, chromatin remodeling, signaling pathways, synaptic scaffolding, neurotransmitter receptors, and lipid metabolism. Genetic diagnosis provides subjects with an explanation of the cause of their disorder. However,…

  • Early Holocene Indian summer monsoon and its impact on vegetation in the Central Himalaya

    Open Access•Sambit Ghosh, Prasanta Sanyal et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2020•Cited by: 3•References: 7

Increase in rainfall during the early Holocene has been reported from different regions of Indian subcontinent, although the magnitude shows spatial variability with lower change in higher rainfall regions and vice versa. While the early-Holocene rainfall records are available from lowland areas of the Indian sub-continent, the record is poorly documented from the high-altitude Central Himalayan region where orography plays an important role in t…

  • A Note on the Bayesian Modeling of the Stratigraphic Chronology of Canímar Abajo, Cuba

    Open Access•Anne Philippe, Marie-Anne Vibet•ARTICLE•Radiocarbon•2018•Cited by: 1•References: 7

We implement a Bayesian statistical analysis of the chronology of Canímar Abajo in Cuba in order to estimate two episodes of burial activity and the period of time corresponding to the hiatus between them. We show that by using simple Bayesian modeling, conclusions can easily be reached by the analysis of the marginal posterior distribution of each parameter of the model. However, we also suggest and describe new statistical tools that exploit th…
