  • Digital equity and government support during Covid-19

Open Access•Shabnam Kazembalaghi, Jerry Coakley et al.•ARTICLE•Small Business Economics•2025

The advent of COVID-19 portended a dire liquidity crunch for small firms as traditional external funding sources were severely curtailed. Defying expectations, initial equity crowdfunding (ECF) campaigns not only withstood the pandemic’s onslaught but also saw unprecedented growth in funding volume, investor participation and overfunding. Property has been affected by two developments in the 1980s: the shift to services (especially financial services) and waves of deregulation. The increase in demand during the 1980s boom stemmed both from investors such as property comp…

The City of London plays a central role in the internationalisation of bank capital. This internationalisation is based on a specialist type of banking called euro-banking which has focussed on lending to Multinational Corporations and Sovreign States, and which has enhanced the integration of the Newly Industrialising Countries and oil exporting countries with the Advanced economies. Different degrees of state regulation between countries has be…

  • Finance Capital: A Study of the Latest Phase of Capitalist Development

    Open Access•Jerry Coakley•REVIEW•Capital & Class•1982•References: 1

At the outset the person on the Clapham omnibus could be forgiven for questioning the contemporary relevance of a volume of economic analysis whose main outline was completed in the early 1900s by a practising doctor at the age of 28 . An initial attitude of scepticism could easily be transformed into one of complete dismissal if one were to take at face value Lenin's characterisation of the same doctor as `ex-Marxist, and now a comrade-in-arms o…
