Evaluation Advisory Groups
Evaluation (like applied social science research and social work research) exists to be practical. This means that its very being and certainly its job in the world is to be used—used to help individuals learn, assess, reflect, and be useful in imagining, proposing, deciding, and recommending whether and how to refine, improve, close, or otherwise respond to the realities of organized efforts to ‘‘make a difference’’ in the material and other wor…

Youth Work on the Street: Community's Moral Compact with its Young People
Youth work is a principal strategy for responding to children and young people on the streets in many countries. Young work praxis has many forms worldwide and it is necessary to accept this and not urge a single model. A definition of youth work as a family of practices gives legitimacy to this variety. It is argued that the multiple sources for the philosophy behind youth work should be acknowledged along with their ethical implications. Youth …

Evaluation Research and Evaluation: Scientific Social Reform Movement and Ideology
The idea that human services programs should be evaluated is accepted by most practitioners and researchers.
