  • Gender Critical Feminism and Trans Tolerance in Sports

    Cj Jones•ARTICLE•Sociology of Sport Journal•2024•References: 2

Through a systematic review of gender critical feminist rhetoric in the realm of sports, this article excavates a rhetorical strategy of what the author calls “trans tolerance,” a strategy that is at once trans-affirming and trans-exclusionary. The author argues that three themes run across three gender critical feminist organizations: (a) nonpartisanship, (b) biofeminism, and (c) trans tolerance. In a sports world that desperately needs transfor…

  • Negotiating Liturgical Obligations in Late Medieval Dominican Convents

    Open Access•Cj Jones, Claire Taylor Jones•ARTICLE•Church History•2022•References: 7

Liturgy has often served as a source for studying the identities of medieval religious communities through examining local saints and special chants or ceremonies. This article deepens such approaches by considering the practice of liturgical coordination, which required each convent to reconcile the obligations imposed upon it by the order to which it belonged, the diocese in which it lay, and the personal networks of its sisters. The shifting d…

  • Unfair Advantage Discourse in USA Powerlifting

    Cj Jones•ARTICLE•TSQ Transgender Studies Quarterly•2021•Cited by: 5•References: 7

This essay follows the social life of testosterone during a presentation at a USA Powerlifting national governing board meeting. While feminist and queer sports analyses focus on the implication of hormone levels for intersex athletes, much less scholarship analyzes how the hang-up on testosterone itself—whether endogenously produced or pharmaceutically regulated—unjustly targets transgender athletes. Paying attention to how testosterone delineat…

  • Cognitive Performance in Women Aged 50 Years and Older With and Without Fibromyalgia

    Barbara J Cherry, Laura Zettel‐watson et al.•ARTICLE•The Journals of Gerontology…•2012•References: 3

Results partly support altered cognitive function in FM. Mixed findings across cognitive domains among individuals with or without FM is consistent with the literature and suggest that factors beyond those typically controlled for (e.g., heterogeneity in FM) may be influencing findings. Future research is warranted
