The paper describes the author's identification of four Dutch ‘eight‐sheet’ wall maps of the continents (c.1604–1617) as the work of Josua van den Ende. By comparing the unsigned maps of America (Bibliothèque Nationale), of Asia (Nederlands Historisch Scheepvaart Museum) and of Africa (Bibliothèque Nationale) with a signed map of Europe by van den Ende (British Library S.T.E.). An Antwerp unicum: An unpublished terrestrial globe of the 16th century in the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris
Le globe est composé de 12 fuseaux, actuellement collés cote à cote. La diamètre est de 73,5 cm. Les planches originales, gravées sur cuivre, au nombre de 12, devaient mesurer 40 × 60 cm environ. Les contours et la nomenclature sont postérieurs à 1581 et antérieurs à 1587. Six cartouches sont restés vides. 80 légendes sont inscrites sur diverses parties du monde. The only two known copies of the 1614 edition of Miinster's Cosmographey which contain a second title-page dated 1615 are to be found respectively in the Kongelige Bibliotek in Copenhagen, Denmark, and in the Universitats-Bibliothek in Freiburg-im-Breisgau, Germany. This title-page is signed, as engraver, by Wilhelm D i.e. Willem de Haen (Guilielmus Hanius), a Dutch (?) engraver active between 1609 and 1625, probably in the Netherlands and Rhinel…
